Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Unable to Make Second Half Comeback at Rutgers-Newark, 4-2

Madison, NJ (September 11) – In Wednesday evening non-conference action, the FDU-Florham Women's Soccer team traveled to Rutgers-Newark in hopes of making a first-half comeback, but was but was overall just short as the Devils lost 4-2.

It did not take long for Rutgers-Newark to feel the home-field advantage as they notched their first goal during the 15th minute of the match. With her first shot just missing, Ashley Dietrich (Middletown, NJ) notched her second goal of the season as Mia Lopez (Rockaway, NJ) earned her third assist of the year in the 27th minute, to tie the score at one apiece.
 
With the energy of their home-field advantage, Rutgers-Newark went ahead and scored their second goal of the evening two minutes after the Devils' first goal. The momentum was still running high and Rutgers was able to add its final goal of the half, 10 minutes before expiration of the first 45 minutes, 3-1
 
With a game plan coming out of halftime, FDU-Florham was ready to execute and did so at the 53:48 minute mark when Lopez found first-year Georgia Oberman (Jefferson, NJ) to up the score one goal closer and record her first collegiate goal, 3-2.
 
Before time expired, Rutgers-Newark impressed the home crowd and topped their game against the Devils with their fourth goal of the match, resulting in a 4-2 overall score in non-conference play.

In goal for the  Devils, during the full duration of the game was Ava Gianni (North Brunswick, NJ)  as she faced 11 shots being aimed at her goal, but only accounted for four saves. Jillian Jones of Rutgers-Newark was also in goal for the full 90 minutes and accounted for four saves on 12 shots.

FDU-Florham will wait until Saturday, September 14th at 4 pm to return to Robert T. Shields Field as they are set to host Muhlenberg for non-conference action.
