#1 Lebanon Valley Hands Softball 8-0 Loss in First Game of MAC Freedom Championship

Annville, Pa (May 2) – In their first game of the MAC Freedom Championship first-seeded Lebanon Valley (31-8, 12-2 MAC Freedom) connected with the ball in the first inning to help secure the 8-0 win in five innings, over the fourth-seeded FDU-Florham softball team (17-17, 6-8 MAC Freedom).

FDU-Florham started the top of the first inning with one hit from Kacie Centineo (Waldwick, NJ) as she singled down the left-field line. Unfortunately, the Devils were not able Centineo home for the first run of the game.

However, Lebanon Valley stepped up the plate and was able to score seven runs on eight hits to secure the early lead after the first inning.

In the third inning, FDU-Florham looked to start a rally as another hit was recorded this time by Kristen Tigar (Hazlet, NJ) as she found a gap in center field for a single. The end of the half inning resulted in one runner left on base and no runs were scored by the Devils.

The Flying Dutchman closed the bottom of the inning with their final run of the game as a sacrifice fly to right field was enough for an RBI and their eighth run.

FDU-Florham gave it a final effort in the fourth and fifth innings as they combined for three runs between the two innings but still were not able to bring any runners home for a score as they Devils lost in five innings by a score of 8-0.

The loss was unfortunately given to Kelly Cornog (Newtown Square, PA) (11-9) as she pitched for two outs in the first innings before being relieved by Bianca DiSanto (Colonia, NJ) who pitched 3.1 innings with 33 pitches thrown. Recording the win for Lebanon Valley was Erin Sinatra (14-2) as she was seen with seven strikeouts in five innings.
