Madison, NJ (April 16) – To defend Madison Avenue, the FDU-Florham Softball Team (12-12, 2-5 MAC Freedom) was successful in their non-conference doubleheader against Saint Elizabeth (9-12, 4-4 United East) as they defeated the Eagles by scores of 11-7 and 13-0.

Game 1:

After a strong defensive showing in the top of the first inning, Kacie Centineo Waldwick, NJ) grounded out to second base for an RBI and the Devils' first run of the game. Sophomore Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ) added a second run with an RBI single through the left side, 2-0.

FDU-Florham's bats kept connecting with the ball as they were able to bring in another three runs in the second inning, 5-0, before Saint Elizabeth brought in their first run with an RBI single in the third inning.

The Devils kept up the offensive momentum in the bottom of the third inning as Heather Priante (Howell, NJ) singled for an RBI. Centineo added another 2 RBI to the score, while Bianca DiSanto (Colonia, NJ) closed the scoring run in the third inning of play with an RBI double to right-center, 10-1.

Saint Elizabeth was able to close the scoring margin to within three runs by the end of the top of the sixth as they added three runs in the fourth inning and another three runs in the sixth inning.

Capping the Devils' score in the bottom of the sixth inning was senior Nicole Thompson (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. ) as she sent the ball over the center field fence for her first collegiate home run and FDU-Florham's final run of the game. The Devils' defense was able to hold in the final inning to help secure the 11-7 victory in game one.

The first inning of game two showed no offensive movement as neither team was able to score a run.
