Lilli NawrotzkiMadison, NJ (November 6) – In its final match of the season, The FDU-Florham Volleyball Team (10-16, 1-6 MAC Freedom) not only honored its four seniors before the game but also hosted King's (Pa.) (18-10, 1-6 MAC Freedom) for the final MAC Freedom match of the regular season and unfortunately saw a 3-1 loss to the Monarchs.
Three out of the four seniors were seen at the top of the box score statistics including
Jada Everett (Hackensack, NJ) who notched 12 kills and 22 digs.
Rachel Reiter (Riverside, Calif.) also appeared in two different categories as she served three aces and two blocks. Helping with an assist or a few were
Lilli Nawrotzki (Flemington, NJ) as she accounted for 27.
Set 1: The match started with intensity as King's first showed it with a 4-1 score, but FDU-Florham then mirrored their attack by taking the 5-4 lead early. The score continued to jump to an advantage for either team and then caught itself in a tie, as seven ties occurred before the score read 22-22. With three straight points, the Monarchs were able to take the first set, 25-22.
Set 2: The heat started to rise for the Devils with the loss of the first set as they brought the intensity early with an 8-3 lead. Throughout the majority of the set, FDU was able to keep the lead but found King's next to them after a kill tied the score at 18-18, and The monarchs kept adding points to make it 21-18. The Devils found themselves in another end-of-set tie at 22-22, but another three straight points helped close out the set win for the Monarchs, 25-22.
Set 3: Another strong start allowed FDU-Florham to take the lead to a 9-7 score. The two teams traded points until the Devils took a small 6-1 run to increase the number of the scoreboard to 17-13. FDU-Florham was able to stay in front for the entire rest of the set and even ended it with three straight points of their own, 25-21.
Set 4: The fourth set saw multiple ties in the first twelve points as a kill from
Meghan Kreinberg (Union, NJ) tied the set at 6-6. King's was able to score four points before the Devils added six straight of their own. The teams continued to pull back and fourth on the scoreboard until the final five points, as a comeback was thought to be seen by the Devils but were cut short of hope as King's officially ended FDU-Florham's season with a 25-21 loss in set four and a 3-1 loss overall.
