Women's Soccer Defeats Delaware Valley, 4-3

Doylestown, Pa. (October 30) – The FDU Women's Soccer team defeated Delaware Valley, 4-3. Mia Lopez was the Devils leading scorer, earning 1 goal and 1 assist.

The match started with shots from both sides, but the first to put a goal on the scoreboard were the Devils. At 25:46, Daniella Conanan (Hazlet, NJ) passed it backwards to Ashley Dietrich (Middletown, NJ) who unleashed a beauty into the top left corner of the net to give the Devils a 1-0 early lead.

The rest of the half looked like it was going to remain the same, but with just 35 second left in the half, Emma Letizia (North Haledon, NJ) received a ball up the field and chipped it past the goalkeeper to extend the Devils lead to 2-0. The score remained the same once the score reached halftime.

The Devils continued the scoring once play resumed, as at 56:15, Mia Lopez (Rockaway, NJ) passed the ball to Ashleigh Frankel (Branchburg, NJ), who's shot bounced into the net to extend the Devils lead to 3-0.

Lopez got a goal of her own just under four minutes later, when at 60:03, she found her own rebound off the goalkeeper and stuffed it into the net to give FDU a 4-0 advantage.
Delaware Valley put up a late charge, scoring three goals in the last 17 minutes, but in the end they ran out of time, and FDU defeated Delaware Valley, 4-3.

Ava Gianni (North Brunswick, NJ) performed well for the Devils, earning herself four saves.

FDU earned slightly more shots overall (15-11) and shots on goal (11-7). Delaware Valley had more corners (4-2), while the Devils were the more physical team, earning more fouls. (10-5).

The Devils will finish up the regular season and celebrate our senior class on senior day against Arcadia at home. The match will take place this Saturday, November 2nd, at 3:00 PM.
