Madison, NJ (July 21)- Co-interim Athletic Directors Kristin Giotta and Patrick Scarpello have announced that Michael Tufaro will take over as the new Head Men's Golf Coach effective immediately. He takes over for former men's golf coach Jeff Slanovec, who stepped down from the position in late-June.
"We are thrilled to announce Coach Tufaro as our Head Men's Golf Coach." Stated Kristin Giotta. "We look forward to seeing continued progress for the program under his leadership and guidance."
Tufaro joined the FDU-Florham athletics staff in 2019 when he became the offensive line coach for the Devils football team. He became a member of the full-time staff in 2022 when he became the team's offensive coordinator.
Tufaro becomes the sixth men's golf coach in program history and enters his first ever head coaching role.
"First of all, I want to thank Coach Giotta and the Athletic Administration here at FDU for allowing me this opportunity." Michael Tufaro said "My intention is to pick up right where Coach Slanovec left off in growing this Men's Golf program to be as competitive in the MAC as we can possibly be. We have exceptional student-athletes across the board here in Madison and I'm truly looking forward to working with not only the golfers we have, but the first-year golfers we have coming in. Golf is a sport that has taught me countless lessons throughout my life and hopefully I can assist the game in delivering those same lessons to our student-athletes. Once again, I want to thank Coach Giotta and the Administration for the opportunity, and I can't wait to get started."
