Madison, NJ (May 2) – The FDU-Florham Baseball Team (8-32) hosted Saint Elizabeth University (13-23) for a season finale of The Battle of Madison Ave., that resulted in 3-2 win for the Devils.
Dylan Hode (Manalapan, NJ) led the way for the Devils as he went 2-for-3 from the batter's box and collected a run.
Tyrus Chippendale (Middlesex, NJ) added another two hits, as well as a run for FDU-Florham.
The Eagles of Saint Elizabeth were the first to bring in a run as Jake Tone, set the tone with homerun to right field. Saint Elizabeth added it's second run in the third inning on a balk by the pitcher, sending the runner on third, home to go up 2-0.
Coming into the seventh inning, the Devils felt the heat rising pitch by pitch as
Zach Ganca (Merrick, NY) singled through the right side for the RBI. Junior
Brody Donovan (South Plainfield, NJ) tied the game with a sacrifice fly to center field, sending the runner home. In the eighth inning
Chris Kubas (New Providence, NJ) scored the winning run on fielding error by the third baseman, 3-2.
Recording the win for the Devils was
Eli Gonzalez (Brooklyn, NY) (2-0) as he pitched one inning and faced three batters.
Chris Kaponis ( Burlington Township, NJ) was awarded a save after pitching the final inning with two strikeouts on four batters. On the mound for Saint Elizabeth was Diego Rodriguez who pitched one inning and faced three batters.
