Williamsport, Pa (April 29) – The FDU Florham women's lacrosse team (9-8, 7-1 MAC FREE) wrapped up the regular by taking down Lycoming (8-8, 4-4 MAC FREE), 16-8 for its seventh straight MAC Freedom victory in a row on Saturday afternoon.
Lizzy Escudero (Bridgewater, NJ) totaled eight points on the day with three goals and five assists while
Alexis Ashton (Blairstown, NJ) continues to put in the goals for the Devils with another five-goal performance.
Jenna Ranney (Forest Hill, Md.) tied her season-high with four goals and an assist in the game while
Marissa Ross (Owings Mills, Md.) notched another double-digit draw effort with 13 on the afternoon.
Alison Kozik (Ellington, Conn.) and
Maddy Apap (Montgomery, NY) once again shared halves in the net with Apap getting the start and the win to go along with five saves while Kozik got the nod in the second half while collecting four saves.
For the Warriors, Riley Block led the team in goals with four on the day. Zoe Stauffer got the loss in net while making 14 saves.
The Devils jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Warriors were able to get their first goal at the 7:18 mark in the first quarter. Goals from Ashton and Ranney gave the Devils a 7-1 lead heading into the second quarter.
The second quarter did not see many goals as there was only three between the two teams, but FDU still outscored them with two goals to one to take a 9-2 lead into the second half.
Lycoming battled back in the third quarter, outscoring FDU 4-1 to cut the lead to 10-6 heading into the fourth quarter but the Devils started off the final quarter with four goals and outscored Lycoming 6-2 overall in the fourth to take the 16-8 win
As a team, The Devils took 37 shots including 30 on goal, 19 ground balls and 19 draw controls. FDU also converted 14-of-17 clear attempts.
For the Warriors, they totaled 22 shots with 77 shots on goal, 21 ground balls and nine draw controls. Lycoming was near perfect on clear attempts converting 17 of their 18 attempts.
FDU-Florham notched the third seed in the MAC Freedom playoffs and will travel to play the second seed Misericordia on Wednesday May 3 with a time still to be determined.
