Softball Falls to King's in Final Regular Season Doubleheader

Madison, NJ (April 28) – The FDU-Florham Devils (15-16, 6-10) hosted King's College (PA) (22-12, 12-4) for a Friday afternoon MAC Freedom doubleheader, that resulted in King's defeating the Devils in game one, 7-1, as well as game two, 9-2.
 
Game 1:

Game one was awarded to King's as they collected 13 hits to help secure the 7-1 win. The Devils collected two hits from Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ) and Colleen Conway (Amityville, NY).
 
The Monarchs were the first to put a run up as the run was brought in on the SAC fly to left field. The Devils evened the score in the bottom of the second with a homer to right field from Rodriguez, for a her third of the year.
 
FDU-Florham collected its second hit from Conway with a single through the left side in the fourth inning. Between the third and seventh inning King's went on a 6-0 run to stretch the score to 7-1 and to secure the win.
 
The Devils saw Ciara Hoffman (Freehold, NJ) (9-6) in the circle for game one as she threw two strikeouts, while facing 40 batters. Recording the win for King's was Brandi McIntosh (9-4) who faced 27 batters and threw two strikeouts.

Game 2:

Game two brought clouds as the Devils saw a 9-2 loss to the Monarchs. The Devils brought in three hits including two from Kristina Pelano (Howell, NJ).

The Monarchs put up seven runs in the first three innings before the Devils could bring their first run in the third inning. Pelano introduced the bat to the ball and doubled to left field for the RBI.

Kings made an effort to put FDU-Florham away in the fifth inning by adding another two runs, 9-1. The Devils kept swinging to stay in the game as Conway singled through the right side for the Devils second run.

The game continued till the seventh inning, but no runs were scored for either dugout, resulting in a 9-2 win for the King's. 

First-Year Victoria Fantozzi (Hillsborough, NJ) (1-1) was seen through 2.1 innings for the Devils and faced 19 batters. Emily Novicki (9-5) threw from the circle for the entirety of game two and recorded ten strikeouts.
