Kansas City, Mo. (November 30) – After earning All-Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) accolades earlier this fall, FDU-Florham women's soccer sophomore forward
Mia Lopez (Rockaway, NJ) was placed on the United Soccer Coaches Division III All-Region IV Second Team when selections were announced yesterday.
Lopez was one of ten student-athletes from the MAC Freedom to earn All-Region IV accolades this fall. The sophomore also is now just the fifth student-athlete in program history to appear on the All-Region Teams.
Lopez guided the Devils to a historic season that saw them win the most games in a single season with a record of 17-5-1 and to their first Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship since 2005. FDU-Florham also broke the single season records for longest winning streak (11), longest unbeaten streak (11), most wins at the start of a season (11), shutouts (12) and consecutive shutouts (5).
Individually, Lopez registered 19 goals and three assists for 41 points on the season and posted seven game winning goals. In her first season on the team, the sophomore ranked third in the country in game winning goals, ninth in the nation in total goals and was one of just 35 student-athletes in Division III women's soccer to eclipse 40 points in 2022.
Lopez's 19 goals third most in a single season in program history, while her seven game winners tied the program record with Brittany Kanickij, who accomplished the feat in 2010. Lopez also became just the third student-athlete in program history to register 40 or more points in a single season joining Kanickij (47 in 2010, 46 in 2009) and Lora Fink (40 in 2010).
