Warminster, Pa. (October 5) – Led by a first place individual finish by junior
Vinny Dasaro (Vernon, NJ), the FDU-Florham men's golf team defeated Delaware Valley University, 316-330, in a dual match this afternoon at Five Ponds Golf Club.
FDU-Florham's team score of 316 marks the lowest performance by the Devils since the spring of 2018 when FDU-Florham carded a 317 in a dual match at Misericordia University.
Dasaro tied his career low this afternoon as he carded a 75 (+4) for first place, two strokes lower than the second place finisher from Delaware Valley. The junior made a two putt birdie on the 517-yard, par five, 12th hole and also hit a lob wedge to within eight feet of the hole and made birdie on the 349-yard, par four, 18th hole.
Graduate student
Austin Whiteman (Parsippany, NJ) and first-year
Chris DeRogatis (Branchburg, NJ) tied for third place today as they both carded an 80 (+9) against the Aggies. Whiteman's score was a career low as he posted a 40 on both the front nine and the back nine.
Sophomore
Aidan Newman (Gainesville, Fla.) also shot a career low score today with an 81 (+10) as he birdied the 437-yard, par four, 16th hole after rolling in a 35-foot putt. First-year
Andrew McKernan carded an 83 (+12) as he birdied the 349-yard, par four 18th hole after making a 30-foot putt.
Individually, sophomore
Grant Jenkins (Long Valley, NJ) carded a career-low 85 (+14) in his round today.
FDU-Florham will return to action tomorrow afternoon with a dual match at William Paterson University. The matchup will take place at Black Bear Golf Club in Franklin, NJ.
