Women's Basketball Falls to Conn College 82-62

New London, CT (November 26, 2019)- Women's Basketball fell to Connecticut College by the score of 82-62 on Tuesday. With the loss, the Devils fall to 1-5 while the Camels improve to 3-2.

FIRST QUARTER
FDU controlled the first quarter of play behind Freshman Nevaeh Sutton who finished the quarter with nine points. The Devils built their largest lead of the quarter at 10 points with 2:40 remaining and ended the quarter up 20-14.

SECOND QUARTER
The Devils would continue to play well, building a nine-point lead at 29-20 with 5:30 remaining in the quarter. Conn College had the response, going on a 17-3 run to build a 37-32 lead with 1-minute remaining. FDU would add four points before the half, Camels up 37-36 at the break.

Sutton led all scorers in the first half finishing with 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, knocking down 3 three-pointers. Freshman Jayda Bing chipped in 9 points while Senior Cayla Staggers added 7.

THIRD QUARTER
It is was back and forth early in the quarter with four lead changes in the first four minutes. The camels would take control, outscoring the Devils 20-13 in the third quarter for a 57-49 lead headed into the fourth.

FOURTH QUARTER
FDU would fight in the early stays of the fourth, but the Camels kept coming on offense finishing with 23 points in the quarter. The game would finish 82-60.

LEAD DEVIL
Staggers led the way for the Devils on offense finish the game with 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, playing all 40 minutes of the game.

KEY CONTRIBUTORS
Sutton ended the day with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Freshman counterpart Bing added 13 points and 8 rebounds while Sophomore Helen Ishmael finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds.

FIRST TIMER
Freshman Jada Hill scored her first collegiate point with 4:31 remaining in the third quarter after knocking down 1-of-2 free throws. She also added 6 rebounds on the day in 29 minutes.

NEXT UP
FDU returns home to the Ferguson Recreation Center on Sunday, December 1 for a 1 p.m. tip-off against William Patterson University.
