MADISON, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's lacrosse team rolled past Manhattanville, 18-5, Wednesday night in Purchase, N.Y.
The Devils improved to 7-4 on the season and 2-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom while the Valiants fall to 6-5 overall and 1-1 in the MAC Freedom.
Senior
Samantha Holleritter led the Devils with four goals, four ground balls, two caused turnovers and five draw controls while graduate student
Noelle Shirey scored three goals, picked up three ground balls, caused five turnovers, and won four draw controls.
The Valiants scored first but the Devils scored the next eight-straight goals and left half time with a 10-2 lead.
Manhattanville was able to score three more in the second quarter, but eight goals from the Devils left the hosts with little chance for a comeback.
Junior
Caroline Pape demonstrated her defensive prowess throughout the contest and added three goals, one ground ball and four draw controls. Senior
Cassidy Vastano was a play-maker all game long, recording five assists for the second-straight game.
In goal,
Megan Nemeth and
Erin Gill combined for eight saves in the triumph.
Up next, FDU returns home to take on King's College (Pa.) on Saturday, April 14 at 1 p.m. in Madison, N.J. in conference play.
