The Diplomats took the lead in the first, courtesy of a two-run home run by Erin Russell. The Devils, who only had one hit over the first two innings, tallied three knocks in the third, to cut the deficit to 2-1. With one out, sophomores Tara Morash and Gabby Young reached on infield knocks. Senior Taylor Torre singled with two outs, scoring freshman Taylor Tobey.

FDU had a golden opportunity to tie or take the lead in the fourth. Senior Michelle Mangini led off with a double and freshman Francesca Shipe singled and swiped second. The next three hitters were retired, keeping the score at 2-1.

Young reached on an error in the fifth and promptly stole second. After a Torre walk, senior Rebecca DeCarlo singled back through the box, scoring Torre. The tie was short-lived, as F&M regained the lead with an RBI single in the bottom half of the fifth.

FDU had the go-ahead run on first base after Tobey reached on an error and Torre singled to left. The team was unable to push the runner across the plate, as a foul out and fly out ended the game.

Torre and Shipe each notched a pair of hits in the opener, while Scarengelli struck out a pair in four innings. Entering in relief, freshman Linda Rizzo fanned a pair in two innings.

Ripon 1, FDU-Florham 0
Rizzo toed the rubber for game two, and found herself in a two-on, no-out jam in the first inning. The rookie got a foul out, strikeout and a comebacker to the mound to retire the side. Morash was the first Devil to reach base, walking in the third inning. She advanced no further, as a flyout to left ended the stanza.

The Red Hawks broke through in the fifth, scoring an unearned run. After an infield single and stolen base, a dropped fly ball in left field allowed the runner to come around and score.

In the home half, Shipe reached on an error and moved to second on a sac bunt, but was unable to move any further. Neither side was able to score again, with the Red Hawks escaping with a 1-0 win.

Rizzo fanned five in a complete game, allowing just one walk and four hits.
