MADISON, N.J. (DECEMBER 1, 2018) - The FDU-Florham women's basketball team fell to Connecticut College 71-58 Saturday afternoon.
FDU sits at 3-3 on the season, while the Camels remained unblemished with a 7-0 record.
The Devils opened the game on a 6-2 run to take an early lead in the first quarter, but the Camels responded with a three of their own to make it a 6-5 game with eight minutes remaining in the opening quarter. The Devils responded with a 8-3 run to push it to 14-8. The Camels would respond with a quick 5-0 to make it a one point game. Both teams continued to battle for the rest of the quarter with no team leading by more than three.
The Camals led 22-20 after the first but the Devils tied the game at 22 on the first possession of the second frame. The Devils defense didn't allow the Camels to register a point for the first 5:02 of the second quarter. They Devils forced the Camels to go 0-for-5 from both the field and the charity strip before the Camels made a free throw to end the drought. However the Devils themselves only shot 1-for-7 during this span but sank five free throws to give them a 27-22 lead before the Connecticut College free throw.

Jennah Roman drilled a buzzer-beater three to tie the score at 35 at half.
After trading baskets to start the third quarter, the Camels went on a 10-0 which lasted over six minutes in the third stanza. A basket by freshman
Helen Ishmael with two minutes left in the quarter ended the run but the Camels closed out the period on a 7-0 run to make it a 54-39 ball game.
The Devils were able to cut the deficit to 10 with 3:24 left in the game following a Roman jumper. The jumper capped off a 6-0 Devils run. After a Camel layup, the Devils rattled off another 6-0 run including four free throws by Roman. 62-56 was as close as the Devils would get in their comeback attempt.

The Devils will begin conference play at home on Wednesday December 5, at 8 p.m. against DeSales University. Last season the Devils went 2-1 against the Bulldogs, including a triumph in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship game.
