Finnegan, Scarmozzino Lead Women's Soccer Past Wesley

MADISON, N.J. (November 10, 2018) - Sophomore Madeline Finnegan and junior Lindsey Scarmozzino each netted two goals as the FDU-Florham women's soccer team posted a 4-2 win over Wesley in the First Round of the ECAC Tournament Saturday.

The Devils will host the Second Round Sunday, taking on either Widener or Rutgers-Camden at 4 p.m. Sophomore Ashley Paulino made five saves in route to earning her 13th win of the season which ties the program single-season record.

The Devils got off to the hot start immediately when Scarmozzino flipped her shot above the Wolverines keeper for the first goal of the afternoon. The goal was scored in the 3rd minute on the Devil's first shot of the afternoon and was assisted by sophomore Tatiana Nieto. Scarmozzino netted her second goal of the evening 16 minutes later when she rifled a pass from sophomore Amanda Croce, passed the keeper.

In the 27th minute, junior Nicolette Roberts lobbed a perfect pass to Finnegan right in front of the goal which she quickly flicked in for her third goal of the season. The Wolverines best chance to score came in the next minute when their leading scorer junior Mackenzie Forsythe launched a shot that required a diving save from Paulino.

The Wolverines got on the board first in the second half when they scored in the 52nd minute to make it 3-1. However, the Devils were quick to respond with a goal of their own when Finnegan capitalized off a defensive miscue for her second goal of the afternoon. Wesley cut the lead back down to two in the 73rd minute with a Forsythe goal. The Devils held a 26-8 shot advantage and a 5-1 corner advantage.
