MADISON, N.J. (April 8, 2017) - The FDU softball team swept its straight MAC Freedom doubleheader as the Devils topped Eastern 8-0 and 6-2 Saturday.

Dante Fedeli earned his 300th win at the helm of the Devils softball team, and the team moves to 7-13, 4-2 in the MAC Freedom.
GAME 1: FDU 8, Eastern 0 (6 innings)
Junior
Audrie Thomas had her best start of the season, scattering two hits over six innings with no walks and striking out three. After giving up two hits in first inning, Thomas settled down and retired the 16 in a row.
After a scoreless two innings, junior
Rebecca DeCarlo hammered a 1-2 pitch into the batting cage in left field for a home run, putting FDU on top for good. The Devils tacked five in the bottom of the fifth. Consecutive hits by senior
Paige Lillie and DeCarlo had runners on second and third, as freshman
Annamarie Santangelo laced a two-run single to center with two outs to score a pair.
The big blow of the frame was a big three-run homer to left center by junior
Taylor Torre. The following inning, DeCarlo hit a lazer-shot to left for her second dinger of the day, and Torre concluded game one with a single to dead center.
GAME 2: FDU 6, Eastern 2
Freshman
Megan Zaccario limited Eastern to one basrunner over the first four innings, but FDU couldn't push a run home until they got two in the fourth. Torre led off with a triple to center and touched home on a
Michelle Mangini sac-fly. Freshman
Tara Morash also collected an RBI hit, singling to plate sophomore
Courtney Rohde.
With two runners on and no outs in the top of the fifth, Zaccario fanned a pinch-hitter, but a sac bunt and walk loaded the bases. Zaccario bore down and got a harmless grounder to Rohde to retire the side.
FDU exploded for four runs in the fifth, as Santangelo tripled to lead-off the inning, and classmate
Gabby Young brought her in with a bloop double. Mangini and DeCarlo had RBI singles, while Rohde had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. Eastern got two runs in the seventh, but Zaccario fielded a comebacker to conclude the game.
The freshman struck out four and allowed just the two runs, while Torre went 3-for-3 with two runs scored. DeCarlo went 4-for-6 in the two games as Morash also had a pair of hits in the finale.
