STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (April 30, 2017) - The FDU softball team split its final two gamed as the Devils concluded their season Sunday.

Game 2,CSI 8, FDU 0 (6 innings)
Freshman
Megan Zaccario turned in one of her best pitching performances of the year, hurling seven innings of three hit ball. Zaccario earned the complete game win while allowing one unearned run and struck out one. The Devils threatened in the first, putting runners on first and second with one out. FDU couldn't push the run across after the next two hitters made outs. The score remained 0-0 until the top of third inning.
Freshman
Gabby Young led off with a single, and junior
Taylor Torre stepped up and hit a laser-beam home run to dead center for her second homer in as many days. FDU would add an additional run int he fifth, as junior
Michelle Mangini singled home Torre, who had singled earlier.
The Dolphins got an unearned run back in the fifth, but Zaccario retired eight of the final nine hitters she faced en route to her fifth victory of the year. Torre was a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk, while Young and Mangini each had a pair of hits.
The Devils mustered just one hit in game two, and it came from Young who was the first hitter of the game. Sophomore
Rhianna Paoletti and freshman
Kaylee Fish also reached base for FDU. The Dolphins scored five runs in the first and once in the second, fourth and sixth. Junior
Audrie Thomas was the starter in game two, allowing just two earned runs.
FDU finishes its 2017 campaign at 13-22, including 5-9 in the MAC Freedom.
