MADISON, N.J. (April 28, 2017) - A three unearned run sixth inning helped King's (PA). to a 6-3 win over the FDU baseball team Friday afternoon.
The Devils are now 12-17, and 6-10 in the MAC Freedom.
The Monarchs scored runs in the first and second innings, as both Christian Pack and Chris Rebar had run-scoring hits for the guests. FDU put two runners on base in each of the first four frames, but were unable to break through until the fourth. Junior
Garrett Ruoff laced a 2-1 pitch into left, plating senior
Dylan DiPolvere to cut the lead in half.
Another RBI single in the fifth put the Monarchs up 3-1, and the Devils retired two men in the sixth and seemed to escape a jam. A throwing error with the two hitters retired prolonged the inning, and consecutive RBI hits ran the score to 6-3.
The Devils opened the seventh with three straight hits, the third being an RBI single from senior Nick DeAngelis Jr. After the next two hitters were set down, junior
Christopher Franco delivered a ribbie single to make the score 6-3. That would be all the runs the Devils would muster, as they went down in order in the bottom of the ninth.
Ruoff led the team with three hits, while juniors
Reynaldo Diaz and
Joseph Bonaccorso each had a pair.
Brad Norris suffered the loss, tossing seven innings while striking out five.
