UNION, N.J. (February 26, 2017) - Senior
Josh DellaPietro collected a pair of hits but the FDU baseball team dropped a 6-3 contest at No. 15/19 Kean Sunday.
Junior
Kenny Carrier was saddled with the loss, allowing four runs (all earned) in three innings. Freshman
Logan Brown went the final five innings, striking out two.
The Devils got on the board first in the second inning, as junior
David Wilbur singled through the left side to score DellaPietro. The next batter, junior Joseph Bonaccurso, knocked home a run with an RBI groundout back to the mound. Carrier didn't allow a hit the first time through the lineup, but three consecutive doubles in the bottom of the third gave Kean four runs.
FDU cut the lead in half in the visitor's half of the fourth. With the bases loaded and two outs, junior Garret Ruoff smacked a shot in between short and third. The shortstop dove and flipped to third, but the runner beat the throw and the infield single made the score 4-3. That would be all the scoring for FDU, as Kean tacked on insurance runs in the fourth and eighth innings to come away with the victory.
DellaPietro also scored a pair of runs for FDU, who also swiped three bags during the contest.
FDU will be back in action on Saturday, taking on SUNY-Purchase in a double-header at Diamond Nation.
