HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (December 9, 2017) - Sophomores Kendrea Williams and
Gabrielle Harris each scored over 20 points to lead the FDU women's basketball team to a 92-44 win over Centenary Saturday.
The Devils improve to 4-3 overall, while Centenary dropped to 2-8.
FDU never trailed in the contest, and held Centenary to just one basket over the first 8:04 of the game. During that time, the Devils scored 29 straight points to build a 35-8 lead after the first quarter. The momentum continued in the second period, as the Devils out-scored the Cyclones by 15 to build a 57-15 halftime lead.
The Devils forced 19 first-half turnovers and shot 54.1% from the field, including 50% from three. Williams had 16 points in 17 first half minutes, while Harris added 15 and three assists. Junior
Bria Smith had five rebounds and four steals in opening 20 minutes of play.
Williams and Harris finished off the third frame by scoring the final seven markers, as sophomore
Cayla Staggers hit a pair of layups to open the fourth. A layup by junior
Kayla Croswell gave FDU their biggest lead at 92-38, before the Cyclones ended the game with a 6-0 run.
Williams had a game-high 27 points, while Harris totaled 23 points, four rebounds and four steals. Staggers had eight points and seven boards, as junior
Raven Dowling once again filled the stat-sheet with eight points, six assists and six steals.
FDU heads to Scranton, Pa. next weekend for a tournament, and will face Messiah College in the first game at 7 p.m Friday night. Both Friday and Saturday's games will be held at the University of Scranton with Saturday's game-time to be determined.
