MADISON, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham women's soccer team fell to New York University, 4-0, in the quarterfinal round of the ECAC Tournament.
The Devils close out their 2017 season at 13-7 as Violets move to 12-5-3.
FDU-Florham struggled out of the gate as they surrendered two goals to NYU in the first five minutes of play.
NYU's Marquel Love knocked one in on the first shot of the game just 2:16 in off a pass from Isabelle Turner.
Turner then netted one herself with a one-timer off a pass from Alex Benedict to put the Devils in a 2-0 hole at the half.
Freshman
Nathalia Gallo and senior
Missy Quinn combined for seven shots in the effort but to no avail. Senior forward
Kristina Ragolia fired two blasts on net, but the Violet's goalkeeping pair of Michaela Brickley and Meghan Marhan were there to thwart all threats, combining for six saves.
NYU increased their lead in the 53rd minute on a penalty kick goal from Love and completed their scoring campaign in the 61st minute when Maddie Howard headed in the fourth goal off a rebound that stemmed from a penalty kick.
The Devils struggled to match their opponents, being outshot, 25-13, while defending eight corner kicks without receiving one of their own.
In goal, freshman
Ashley Paulino made six stops to keep the Devils within reach.
