Women's Lacrosse Falls to No.5-ranked Lions

MADISON, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham women's lacrosse team was defeated by the TCNJ Lions on Saturday afternoon at Robert T. Shields Field.

The Devils (0-3) offense was kept in check by a stingy Lions' (2-0) defense, but junior attack Brienna Reasoner managed to score her fourth goal of the season in the loss.

The Lions jumped right out of the gate and after they forced a Devils' turnover and worked their way down the field, Emily Kratz was awarded a free position shot and scored to put her team up 1-0. Less than a minute later, the Lions added another goal off of a shot from Erin Harvey.

As the Lions had possession of the ball, Devils' midfielder Caroline Pape forced a turnover around the FDU-Florham net and the Devils grabbed the ball and sprinted down the field. The ball ended up in Joelle Manganella's stick and she was awarded a free position shot. As the whistle sounded, she charged the net but her shot was saved by the Lions' goalie, Miranda Chrone.

At the 19-minute mark, the Lions were threatening again and after a Devils' turnover, the ball found its way to Cortney Natalicchio and she punched the shot in to give TCNJ a 3-0 lead.

TCNJ went on to add four more goals in the opening half.

Natalicchio opened up the second stanza with her third goal of the afternoon. The Lions then added another score off of a free position shot from Erin Harvey to grab a nine-point advantage.

Just over midway through the half, the Lions turned the ball over and Pape picked it up and ran with it. The ball made its way around the Lions' net and Manganella got it and dish it to Reasoner, who rifled a shot past Chrone for the Devils first score of the game.

In the final 12 minutes of play, the Lions tallied three goals, all coming on free position shots.

The Devils will return to action on Wednesday, March 9 for a home game against St. Joseph's College-LI that is slated for 3 p.m.
