WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham swim teams were unable to defeat King's College and Lycoming College, dropping both ends of their tri-meet on Thursday night.
The Devils men's squad dropped its contests to Lycoming 64-183 and King's 94-119, while the women fell 62-186 to the Warriors and 66-164 to the Monarchs.
On the men's side, the relay of Bohdan Semak, Nicholad DiBenedetto, David Nadler, and Alexiy Stolyarov swam to victory in the 200-free by clocking in at 1:34.33 and narrowly edging Lycoming's foursome by .34 of a second.
Individually, the Devils recorded four, second-place finishes with Stolyarov in the 100-yard butterfly (57.57), Semak in the 100-yard freestyle (51.23), and Stephen O'Brien in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.91). Nadler, the team's captain, posted a time of 24.46 in the 50-yard freestyle event, two seconds behind Lycoming's Dan Apostolu.
Sophomore Sarah Bennett highlighted the women's swim team's effort by earning a win in the 100-yard butterfly event. Bennett touched the wall in 1:07.18 and held off Monarch's Lauren Pham who completed the race in 1:07.56.
The Devils will wrap up the regular season and gear up for MAC Championships with a final tune-up, next Friday, January 29 against Lehman College. Start time is set for 6 p.m. at the Ferguson Recreation Center.
