MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham women's basketball team is headed to the Freedom Conference Championship Game for the third-straight season, following a 79-49 victory over Delaware Valley College on Wednesday night at the Ferguson Recreation Center.

The No. 3 Devils (25-1) will host No. 22 Eastern University (22-4) this Saturday, February 28 at 1 p.m. in the Freedom Conference Championship Game. The Eagles topped DeSales University 72-63 in the other semifinal matchup on Wednesday night.

Eastern and FDU-Florham split their regular-season matchups, with the Eagles snapping the Devils' 53-game winning streak in a one-point overtime victory earlier this month.

On Wednesday night, the Devils were forced to tackle the Aggies for the second time in five days, following their 89-52 win in the regular-season finale. But the third-ranked Devils were up to the challenge in front of a raucous home crowd.

A defensive-minded first half concluded with the Devils on top 33-25. FDU-Florham only shot 35.3 percent as a team, but sophomore guard Alyssa McDonough (Parlin, N.J.) excelled with a half-best 13 points, including two 3-pointers.

After Brenna Coll gave the Aggies an early 8-5 edge, the Devils responded with an 18-4 run to grab control of the contest and gain an 11-point advantage. Freshman guard Danielle Leguillou (Staten Island, N.Y.) provided a spark off of the bench and tossed in five points over that stretch.

Delaware Valley's two team leaders Coll and Eireann Anastasi combined for 15 points in the first half as the Aggies shot 40 percent from the floor, however, they were doomed by 11 turnovers, which caused the eight-point halftime deficit.

The Devils stormed out of the halftime break by netting the first 10 points of the half and enhanced their cushion to 18 points at 43-25. The home team knocked down their first four shots of the stanza, including a pair of treys by McDonough and Kara Dayon (Trenton, N.J.).

Already leading by 18 with 9:23 to play, the Devils put the game out of reach with a 17-0 run that was highlighted by two Delisha Thompson (East Orange, N.J.) layups. The Devils went on to outscore the Aggies 46-24 in the second half, en route to the 30-point victory.

McDonough finished with a game-high 22 points and added six rebounds and two assists to her ledger, while Kyra Dayon and Kara Dayon chipped in with 12 and 11 points apiece. Thompson, a senior forward, narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds in 21 minutes of action.

For Delaware Valley, Anastasi had a strong performance with 18 points, five assists and three rebounds and was the lone Aggie to reach double-figures.
