Devils Drop ECAC Tournament Match 1-0 to Top-Seeded Knights

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The FDU-Florham women's soccer team was defeated by the top-seeded Arcadia University Knights 1-0 in the semifinal round of the ECAC South Tournament on Saturday afternoon in Glenside, Pa.

The Knights' (15-6) offense poured on the pressure throughout the entire course of the game and outshot the Devils 24-6, but junior goalkeeper for FDU-Florham (10-10-2), Annie George was masterful and allowed just one goal while tallying a career-high 12 saves.

George got things started early and picked up two saves on both of the shots placed on goal by the Knights within the first 20 minutes of action. However, in the 24th minute, Kayla Haberbosch had the ball on the right side of the field in the box and she sent it into the top left corner of the net for the score.

The Devils entered the second half of play still trailing by a single goal and they continued to see a heavy dose of the Knights' offense. George remained calm and focused in net despite the pressure and she halted the Knights' attack. The junior keeper went on to record five saves in a four minute span midway through the second half.

FDU-Florham had their first shot on goal in the 60th minute when junior forward Kristen Fila took aim and sent the ball towards the Arcadia net. However, the Knights' keeper, Evelyn Feigeles picked up the save. Feigeles also sent away the Devils' second and final shot on goal in the 67th minute.

The Knights looked to add an insurance goal but kept coming up short as George denied all of their scoring opportunities and when the final horn sounded, the Knights edged out the Devils 1-0.
