Box Score MADISON, N.J. -- Sophomore
Brittni Calleo (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) netted two goals as the FDU-Florham women's soccer team blanked the SUNY Old Westbury Panthers 3-0 on Friday night at Robert T. Shields Field.
Seven minutes into the game, the Devils (2-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Calleo snuck a shot inside the left post off of an assist from
Kristen Fila (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) for her first goal of the season. Then, 90 seconds shy of intermission, Calleo struck once again, this time beating the goalkeeper to the right side, which gave the Devils a two-goal advantage.
The two goals were plenty for sophomore goalkeeper
Annie George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) and the FDU-Florham defense. George made several key saves in the second half and thwarted any scoring chances for the Panthers (2-1).
Freshman striker
Kristina Ragolia (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) added an insurance goal for the Devils in the 81st minute. Ragolia's strike was the first of her collegiate career. The Devils made the most of their opportunities in the contest and continued the pressure by totaling 12 corner kicks (10 in the first half) and limiting the Panthers to just one.
Next up for the Devils:FDU-Florham looks to make it two in a row when they host Mount Saint Mary College (NY) this Wednesday, September 10th at 7 p.m.
