Box Score UNION, N.J. -- After a scoreless first half, the Kean University Cougars netted two second-half goals to defeat the FDU-Florham women's soccer team 2-0 on Wednesday night.
The Devils (1-1) were unable to generate much offense against the stingy Kean (2-1) defense, which resulted in their first loss of 2014.  The Cougars outshot the Devils 18-6 in the contest but sophomore goalkeeper
Annie George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) turned away six shots and helped keep the Devils in the game.
In the 59th minute, Kean juniorÂ
Grace O'Brien broke the tie by drilling a 20-yard freekick over FDU-Florham's defender wall and into the back of the net for the game's decisive goal. The Cougars tacked on an insurance goal at the 77:15 mark when freshman
Kaitlynn Palitto  put away a loose ball in the box for her first goal of the season.Â
Kean has now won the last four matches between the two teams with the Devils last victory coming in 2009.
Next up for the Devils:
FDU-Florham hosts The College at Old Westbury this Friday, September 5th with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. at Shields Field.
