WAYNE, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham swim teams were defeated by William Paterson University on Saturday afternoon at Wightman Pool. The women's team were topped 107-71, while the men's team suffered a 111-76 loss.
For the Devils women's squad, freshman
Sarah Bennett (Vineland, N.J.) continued her strong first season by claiming victory in the women's 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events. Bennett posted a 27.36 in the 50 and 1:00.18 in the 100.
Bennett also contributed to FDU-Florham's first-place 200-yard freestyle relay team.
Alexandra Duarte (Baybille, N.J.),
Samantha Irace (Oceanport, N.J.),
Marianne Herte (West Windsor, N.J.) and Bennett clocked in at 1:59.30 in the relay.
The men's team also earned the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle event as
David Nadler (Randolph, N.J.),
William Raynes (Basking Ridge, N.J.),
Stephen O'Brien (Washington, N.J.) and
Connor Zero (Red Bank, N.J.) cruised with a 1:44.14 in the event.
Individually, O'Brien boasted the best effort in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:08.12. Additionally, Raynes clocked the top time in 500-yard freestyle at 6:27.21.
Next up for the Devils:FDU-Florham will swim in Grantham, Pa. on Saturday, November 8th against Messiah College, Hood College, and Widener University.
