MADISON, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham volleyball team could not slow the attack of No. 19 Eastern University and lost in straight sets 25-15, 25-18, and 25-11 on Wednesday night at the Ferguson Recreation Center.
Eastern's setter
Rikki Schlager was outstanding in the match and dished out 44 assists to lead the Eagles (21-5, 5-0 Freedom) to victory. For the Devils (14-16, 2-3 Freedom), freshman
Melissa Gaffney (League City, Texas) totaled a team-high seven kills in the loss.
In the first set, with the Devils trailing 13-11, the Eagles rattled off eight-straight points led by the serving of senior hitter
Lauren Sproles. During the run, Eastern sophomore
Alicia Weigel recorded three of her 11 kills on the night. Eastern proceeded to close out the set and take a 1-0 lead.
The second set of the match was the most highly-contested. After falling behind 15-8, freshman setter
Codi Inloes-Williams (Palmer Lake, Colo.) served the Devils back into the match and cut the deficit to just two points at 15-13. Inloes-Williams totaled a match-best four service aces in the contest.
After two kills by Gaffney and an attack error by the Eagles, FDU-Florham had tied the contest at 18-18. Unfortunately, Eastern's

Katria Pisch and gave Eagles the 2-0 cushion. Pisch was one of three Eagles to total double-digit kills on the night and totaled 10 kills on a tidy 14 attempts for a .643 hitting percentage.
Despite the third set being notted at 6-6, the Eagles quickly pulled away and finished the match with a 15-5 run.
Inloes-Williams handed out 15 assists for the Devils and added three digs to her ledger. Eastern's freshman outside hitter
Morgan Shemonski was locked in all night and finished with a match-high 14 kills on 23 total attacks.
