Claire Donohue and the Devils women's soccer team had an offensive outburst this Saturday afternoon, cruising past the Lycoming Warriors 7-1 at Robert T. Shields Field.
Accessorized in teal to support ovarian cancer awareness, the Devils (4-6) received three first half goals from Donohue (Red Bank, N.J./Red Bank Regional) and two scores from freshman forward
Brittni Calleo (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional), handing the Warriors (1-7) their fifth straight loss.
Less than two minutes into play, the Warriors jumped out to a 1-0 lead, however, that was all the scoring for Lycoming, as Devils goalkeeper
Annie George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) shut the door.
Donohue drove home a beautiful assist from Calleo in the 15
th minute to even things at one aside. Two more goals from Donohue brought the Devils to intermission holding a 3-1 advantage.
Jennifer DiGioia (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury) and
Michelle Hickey (Burlington, N.J./Burlington Twp.) added late goals for the Devils, icing the win.
In the victory, Donohue picked up her second career hat trick.
The two goals for Calleo were her first of the season.
