Devils Downed By Misericordia In Overtime, 4-3

MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Misericordia in overtime, 4-3, in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 7-10-1 (3-2-1 Freedom) while the Cougars improved to 10-3-2 (5-0-1 Freedom).

Misericordia got on the board first, at the 26:53 mark, and held that 1-0 lead throughout the remainder of the first half.  FDU tied the game at 1-1 9:47 into the second stanza when sophomore forward Claire Donohue found the back of the net.  The Cougars jumped out to a 3-1 lead as they netted two goals in a span of sixteen minutes but the Devils slowly chipped away as senior midfielder Jenna Campfield made it 3-2 with 11:40 left in the game.  After a Misericordia foul with 2:30 to go, senior defender Ally Janiga took the free kick from 45 yards out and knocked it home to tie the game at 3-3 and send it to overtime.  Just 0:18 into the extra session though, the Devils turned the ball over in their own zone and the Cougars were able to convert to escape with the 4-3 victory.

Senior goalkeeper Melanie Pierson suffered the loss, making 10 saves.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at cross-town rival Drew beginning at 7 pm.
