MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils notched their first win of the 2010 season in dramatic fashion on Sunday afternoon, rallying from a 2-0 deficit to beat New Jersey City by a score of 3-2 in double overtime on the second day of the FDU Classic.
With the win, the Devils improved to 1-2.
New Jersey City started the scoring with just 9:47 left before halftime and the Gothic Knights made it 2-0 just 0:16 into the second half. The Devils didn't quit though, cutting it to 2-1 at the 57:05 mark when senior forward
Lora Fink (Hamilton Square, NJ/Pennington Prep) converted a corner kick. The Devils then tied it at 2-2 with 20:28 left in regulation when senior forward
Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) found the back of the net. The two teams had numerous chances throughout the rest of regulation and the first overtime but both goalkeepers made some tremendous saves. With under a minute left in the second overtime, the Devils were awarded a corner kick and Fink did it again as she converted for the game-winner with 0:43 left on the clock.
Junior goalkeeper
Lauren Albrecht (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) made 12 saves in net to earn the win.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at Kean beginning at 7:30 pm.
