MADISON, NJ - Senior forward
Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored two goals to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 3-1 victory over Rutgers-Newark in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
With the win, the Devils improved to 8-4-1.
Kanickij started the scoring at the 14:57 mark when she converted a beautiful feed from junior midfielder
Meaghan Reilly (Cinnaminson, NJ/Holy Cross). After the Scarlet Raiders tied it up six minutes later, the two squads were even until Kanickij put FDU up by a score of 2-1 just 10:31 into the second half. The Devils really put the game away when junior defender
Michelle da Silva (Union, NJ/Union) knocked in a feed from senior forward
Lora Fink (Hamilton Square, NJ/Pennington Prep) off a corner kick with 26:41 left in the contest. The Devils held a 33-12 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.
Junior goalkeeper
Melanie Pierson (Brookside, NJ/Mendham) picked up the win in net, making five saves.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at home for Homecoming against DeSales beginning at 11 am.
