Devils Top Eastern, 2-1 (OT), To Clinch Top Spot In Tourney

MADISON, NJ - Senior forward Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored two goals to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 2-1 (OT) win over Eastern in Freedom Conference action on Saturday evening.  The winner of the game earned the top seed in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament which means the Devils will now have home field advantage throught the tournament.

With the win, the Devils improved to 13-5-2 (6-0-1 Freedom) while the Eagles dropped to 13-4-1 (6-1 Freedom).

Eastern got on the board first with 8:53 left in the first half when sophomore midfielder Amy Thomas (Newtown Square, PA/Delaware County Christian) converted a pass from freshman midfielder Michelle Brown (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney).  Kanickij came back to tie the game just 5:27 into the second stanza and while each team had opportunities to net the game-winner in regulation, neither could find the back of the net sending the game into overtime.  It didn't take long for the Devils to come out on top, as Kanickij knocked in the winner just 1:15 into the extra session.

Junior goalkeeper Lauren Albrecht (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) picked up the win, making five saves.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at home in the Semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament as top-seeded FDU takes on fourth-seeded Misericordia beginning at 4 pm.
