WILKES-BARRE, PA - The College at Florham Devils and Wilkes played to a 2-2 (2OT) tie in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

With the tie, the Devils are now 4-5-2 (0-0-1 Freedom) while the Colonels are 4-4-2 (0-0-1 Freedom).

FDU jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead just 2:11 into the contest when junior forward Lora Fink (Hamilton Square, NJ/Steinert) found the back of the net.  The Colonels came right back to tie it at 1-1 only 7:09 later and then took a 2-1 lead at the 17:23 mark.  The rest of the first half was scoreless but Fink tied the game in the second half with 30:01 left in regulation off a direct kick. Both squads had a few opportunities to score the game-winner in the second half and both overtimes but the defenses stood tall.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Albrecht (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) started and played the first half, allowing two goals and making two saves.  Sophomore goalkeeper Melanie Pierson (Brookside, NJ/Mendham) played the second half and both overtimes and allowed no goals while making five saves.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at New Jersey City beginning at 4 pm.
