Three Goals in Eight Minutes Gives Misericordia 5-4 Win Over FDU

MADISON, NJ - Misericordia scored three second half goals in the span of eight minutes to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 5-3 lead on their way to a 5-4 win over the College at Florham Devils in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 4-7-2 (0-2 Freedom) while the Cougars improved to 4-9 (1-1 Freedom).

The Devils got the scoring started as they took a 1-0 lead at the 20:17 mark when senior defender Lauren Kelly (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) converted a pass from junior forward Lora Fink (Hamilton Square, NJ/Pennington Prep).  FDU made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute when Fink found the back of the net but the Cougars cut it to 2-1 just three minutes later.

Misericordia scored the first goal of the second half to tie the game at 2-2 before sophomore midfielder Kim Campfield (Farmingdale, NJ/Colts Neck) gave the Devils a 3-2 edge at the 57:40 mark.  That's when the Cougars went on their run though, scoring three goals in eight minutes to grab a 5-3 lead with 20:41 left in the game.  Junior forward Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was able to close the gap to 5-4 but the Devils could not net the tying goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Albrecht (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) started the game and played the first half, allowing one goal while making three saves.  Sophomore goalkeeper Melanie Pierson (Brookside, NJ/Mendham) played the second half and allowed four goals with one save.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at Manhattanville beginning at 4 pm.
