Entering Saturday’s field hockey match, the Devils were locked in a three-team tie with DeSales and Misericordia for first place in the Freedom Conference standings. In one of the most important games of the season, senior Niki Ikeda netted two goals and led the Devils to a 5-2 victory over the DeSales Bulldogs on Saturday.

On last week’s episode of “Devils Down Low” Ikeda spoke about the importance of scoring first against DeSales and within the first 30 seconds of the game she fired the ball to the back of the cage from the top of the circle off a Kim Davis assist to give the Devils an early 1-0 lead. Ikeda was not done scoring and right before the half, she netted her second goal in the game. This was Ikeda’s third multi-goal game of the season.

Ikeda also provided a huge offensive spark in the Devils 3-2 win against Eastern University on Wednesday, October 22. She assisted on the first two of the Devils goals in the game. Ikeda has tallied seven goals and seven assists on the season.

This is Ikeda’s second time being named Devil of the Week.
