Each week former FDU-Florham men's basketball standout and current Sports Information Intern John Flete will select a student-athlete as the featured Devil of the Week. John's interview this week is with men's soccer senior forward Chaz Armand.

John: How did you become interested in soccer?
Chaz: Growing up my father played soccer and was the one that first taught me how to play.
J: How many years have you been playing soccer?
C: I have been playing soccer for 15years.

J: What is something you do to get yourself ready for the game?
C: Usually before every game I listen to music and visualize myself playing in my head. Since this is my senior year, I started taping my wrist and writing a few notes to keep myself focused and motivated.

J:  What are the most goals your team scored in a game?
C:
Sophomore year we scored nine goals against Centenary College.

J: What is the most goals you scored in your career in one game?
C: In high school I scored six goals in one game

J: How difficult is it for you to balance playing a sports and academics?
C: For me personally, it isn’t hard to balance soccer with my school work. Since soccer takes up most of my time I’m forced to get my work done. The hardest part is adjusting to spring semester where I have too much time.

J: What is your favorite brand of soccer cleats to play in?
C: My favorite brand of soccer cleats is Nike. I’ve worn Nike since I was a kid.

J: Now that you have four years of experience, what advice would you give to yourself as a younger athlete?
C: Continue to work hard, even in the offseason. It may seem hard but when the season comes back around it’s definitely worth it.

J: What is your favorite professional soccer team?
C: I have two favorite soccer teams. Liverpool from the English Premier League and Barcelona from La Liga in Spain

J: Who is your favorite soccer player?
C: Lionel Messi is my favorite player. Messi is one of the greatest players to ever play the game of soccer and taught me a valuable lesson. In soccer height doesn’t matter if you have heart and the right skills.

J: What is your favorite snack?
C:
My favorite snack is Cool Ranch Doritos.

J: Favorite movie?
C: My favorite movie is Gladiator.

J: Favorite TV show?
C: My favorite TV show is a tough one. It would have to be all the major 90s cartoons. Rugrats, Kenan and Kel, Cat Dog, Dexter Laboratory, Hey Arnold, etc. They don’t make shows like those anymore.

J: Who do you listen to during pregame music?
C:
Future. He always helps me get focused before a game.

J: Who is your favorite actor/actress?
C: Will Smith and Leonardo DiCaprio.

J: If you could visit one country, which country would it be and why?
C: I want to visit England and see Liverpool play.

J: What do you do in your free time?
C: In my free time I’m always with my friends, whether it’s watching movies, doing homework, or playing video games.

J: If you won the lottery what is the first thing you would buy?
C: If I won the lottery the first thing I would do is tell my mom to make a list of everything she’s ever wanted and get her it because she’s done so much for me and I wouldn’t be where I am today without her.
