Peter Marion enters his 12th season as the head coach of the men's basketball program.

In 2013-14, Marion guided a veteran Devils squad into the Freedom Conference Tournament after an 8-6 mark in regular season play. Seniors Will Green and Trevor Sykes each notched their 1,000th career point during the campaign as the Devils qualified for the postseason tournament for the third-straight season.

Marion navigated the Devils to the Freedom Conference Tournament in 2011-12 for the first time since the 2006-07 season.  The Devils posted a 13-13 record and came within three points of upsetting the top seed on the road in the Semifinals of the tournament.

In 2006-07, he led the Devils to a 17-10 record with trips to the Freedom Conference Tournament and the ECAC Metro Region Tournament while also being named Freedom Conference Coach of the Year. The 17 wins were the most for the Devils since 1998-99 and it was also the first time FDU had been to the Conference and ECAC tournaments since 1998-99.

Before becoming the head coach, Marion spent 10 years as an assistant on the Devils staff. He coordinated FDU’s recruiting, and was in charge of scouting and game preparation.
He was a vital cog in the 1999 Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro Region Championship team that set the school record for wins (21) and tied the school record for winning percentage (.750), tying Bill Raftery’s 1967-68 team that went 18-9. He also helped the Devils to an NCAA tournament appearance the year before, as FDU
went 17-9.

A 1995 graduate of Seton Hall University, Marion earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. While at Seton Hall, he served as a four-year student manager for the men’s basketball team under former head coaches P.J. Carlesimo and George Blaney. Marion’s last two years were spent as the team’s head manager.

Marion helped with pre- and post-game preparation at Seton Hall. During his tenure with the Pirates, the squad advanced to the post-season in each of his four seasons, including a trip to the “Sweet Sixteen” against Duke in 1992-93.

He worked as a manager for various USA Basketball teams including the 1999 team at the Olympic Festival in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Marion resides in Madison, NJ.
