MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Alvernia, 8-1, in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

 

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-6 (0-3 Freedom) while the Crusaders improved to 4-7 (2-3 Freedom).

 

Junior Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) won the lone match for FDU, taking sixth singles by a score of 6-1, 6-0.

 

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at DeSales beginning at 3 pm.

DEVILS KNOCKED OFF BY EASTERN, 9-0

 

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were beaten by Eastern, 9-0, in Freedom Conference action on Friday afternoon.

 

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-5 (0-2 Freedom) while Eastern improved to 5-4 (2-2 Freedom).

 

Junior Heather Suboleski (Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow) came closest to a win as she won the first set at first singles but dropped the next two sets.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-3.

 

Juniors Heather Suboleski (Sicklersville, NJ/Winslow) and Stephanie Blumenkehl (Fairfield, NJ/Randolph) came closest to winning for FDU, losing in second doubles by a score of 8-5.

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Alfred, 9-0, in their home opener on Friday afternoon in non-conference action.

 

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-2.

 

Both juniors Heather Suboleski (Sicklersville, NJ/Winslow) and Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/North Burlington) went to three sets in first and second singles, respectively, before losing.

UNION, NJ – The College at Florham Devils dropped their season opener to Kean, 8-1, in non-conference action on Monday afternoon.

 

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-1.

 

Junior Stephanie Blumenkehl (Fairfield, NJ/Randolph) was the lone winner for FDU, as she took fifth singles by a score of 6-4, 6-4.

KOENIG NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE

 

ANNVILLE, PA – Sophomore Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/North Burlington Regional) was named Second Team All-Freedom Conference on Wednesday morning.

 

On the season, Koenig was 2-3 at fourth singles and 1-2 at third singles but carried a 2-2 record at second singles.  In doubles, she was 2-4 at second and 2-2 at first.

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils ended their season with a 9-0 defeat at the hands of DeSales on Saturday afternoon.

 

With the loss, the Devils finished 2-10 (0-5 Freedom).

 

The first doubles team of sophomores Jill Horn (Narbeth, PA/William Penn Charter) and Alyssa Catuogno (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) came closest to earning a point, losing 8-4.

NEWARK, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Rutgers-Newark, 9-0, on Monday afternoon in non-conference action.

 

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 2-8.

 

Sophomore Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/North Burlington Regional) came closest to picking up a win for the Devils, losing at second singles 6-3, 2-6, 10-7.

CALDWELL, NJ – The College at Florham Devils knocked off Division II Caldwell, 5-4, despite only playing with five players on Saturday afternoon.

 

With the win, the Devils improved to 2-7 on the season.

 

Senior Mary Dowd (Manchester Twp., NJ/Freehold Twp.) led the way, winning at fifth singles and teaming with sophomore Alyssa Catuogno (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) to win second doubles.  Senior Robin Hargesheimer (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) won first singles, sophomore Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/North Burlington Regional) won second singles and junior Katrina Musto (Boonton, NJ/Parsippany) won fourth singles.

 

The Devils return to action on Monday, October 1, 2007, at Rutgers-Newark beginning at 4 pm.

GLENSIDE, PA – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Arcadia, 5-4, in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday evening.

 

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 1-7 (0-3 Freedom).

 

Sophomore Leslee Johnson (Darnestown, MD/Northwest) won at first singles and combined with sophomore Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/North Burlington Regional) to win at first doubles.  Koenig also won at third singles.  The other win for FDU came at fifth singles by junior Katrina Musto (Boonton, NJ/Parsippany).

 

The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 29, 2007, at Caldwell beginning at noon.

DEVILS KNOCKED OFF ST. ELIZABETH, 7-2, FOR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

 

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils defeated St. Elizabeth, 7-2, on Monday afternoon in non-conference action to pick up their first win of the season.

 

With the win, the Devils improved to 1-6 on the year.

 

Double-winners for the Devils included sophomore Leslee Johnson (Darnestown, MD/Northwest) at first singles and sophomore Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/North Burlington Regional) at second singles.  The two also combined to win first doubles.  Sophomore Liz Robley (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) won third singles and teamed with sophomore Alyssa Catuogno (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) to win second doubles.  Catuogno also won fourth singles.  Junior Katrina Musto (Boonton, NJ/Parsippany) took fifth singles.

 

The Devils return to action on Wednesay, September 26, 2007, at Arcadia beginning at 4 pm.

DEVILS EDGED BY KEAN, 5-4

 

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils had their best showing of the season, but came up just short as they lost a 5-4 decision to Kean on Friday afternoon in non-conference action.

 

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-6 on the year.

 

Sophomore Leslee Johnson (Darnestown, MD/Northwest) led the way, winning at first singles and teaming with sophomore Jill Horn (Narbeth, PA/William Penn Charter) to win first doubles.  Sophomore Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/North Burlington Regional) was also a double winner, taking fourth singles and combining with senior Robin Hargesheimer (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) to win second doubles.

 

The Devils return to action on Monday, September 24, 2007, at St. Elizabeth’s beginning at 4 pm.  The match will be played at the Morris County Golf Club.

Senior Robin Hargesheimer (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) led the way, winning at third singles and combining with sophomore Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/North Burlington) to win at second doubles.  Sophomore Jill Horn (Narbeth, PA/William Penn Charter) took second singles for the Devils.

The first doubles team of sophomore Leslee Johnson (Darnestown, MD/Northwest) and senior Robin Hargesheimer (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) came closest to pulling out a victory, losing 8-6.

ANNVILLE, PA – The College at Florham were picked to finish second out of six teams in the preseason Freedom Conference coaches poll.  Here is how the voting broke down:

 

1. Wilkes (5) 30 pts., 2. FDU-Florham (1) 25 pts., 2. DeSales 25 pts., 4. Manhattanville 23 pts., 5. King’s 15 pts., 6. Arcadia 12 pts.

GRANVILLE, HORN NAMED TO FREEDOM SECOND TEAM

 

ANNVILLE, PA - Freshmen Amanda Granville (Hawley, PA/Wallenpanpack Area) and Jill Horn (Narbeth, PA/William Penn Charter) have been named second team All-Freedom Conference on Thursday morning.

The two freshmen led the Devils to the brink of the playoffs, but tiebreakers kept the Devils from competing in the postseason.

Horn was 8-1 playing in second singles, winning her first seven matches of the season, with her lone loss coming in the second-to-last match of the season.  She was also 7-2 playing in first doubles for the Devils, winning her first five decisions before a loss.

On the season, Granville played mostly third and fourth singles and finished with a record of 10-2.  She won her first eight singles matches in a row before losing a three-set heartbreaker.

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils beat Lycoming, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon.  With the win, the Devils finished the season 5-8 (2-4 Freedom Conference) and may have earned a bid to the Freedom Conference playoffs depending upon tiebreakers.

 

Double winners for the Devils included freshman Leslee Johnson (Darnestown, MD/Northwest) at first singles and first doubles, freshman Jill Horn (Narbeth, PA/William Penn Charter) at second singles and first doubles and freshman Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington Regional) at sixth singles and third doubles.  Freshman Amanda Granville (Hawley, PA/Wallenpanpack Area) won at third singles, sophomore Heather Suboleski (Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow) won at fourth singles and junior Robin Hargesheimer (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) won at fifth singles.  Junior Stephanie Mora (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) combined with Koenig to win third doubles.

Freshmen Leslee Johnson (Darnestown, MD/Northwest) and Jill Horn (Narbeth, PA/William Penn Charter) were the winners on the day for the Devils.  The two combined to win first doubles while Johnson won first singles and Horn took second singles.

Freshman Leslee Johnson (Darnestown, MD/Northwest) won at first singles while the team of junior Kim Chambers (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) and freshman Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington Regional) won at third doubles.  Freshman Amanda Granville (Hawley, PA/Wallenpanpack Area) saw her season long undefeated streak in singles action come to end, losing at second singles.

Freshman Jill Horn (Narbeth, PA/William Penn Charter) won second singles 6-2, 6-2 and combined with freshman Amanda Granville (Hawley, PA/Wallenpanpack Area) to win second doubles 8-1.  Granville also won at fourth singles 6-2, 6-1 and has not lost a match yet this year.  Other winners for the Devils included sophomore Heather Suboleski (Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow) at third singles, junior Robin Hargesheimer (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) at fifth singles and freshman Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington Regional) at sixth singles.

Freshman Amanda Granville (Hawley, PA/Wallenpanpack Area) was the lone winner on the day for the Devils.  She won third singles 6-0, 6-3.

WAYNE, NJ – The College at Florham Devils picked up their first win of the year, 8-1, over William Paterson on Monday afternoon.  The win improved the Devils record to 1-4 on the season.

 

Freshman Leslee Johnson (Darnestown, MD/Northwest) won at first singles 6-4, 6-4 and teamed with sophomore Heather Suboleski (Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow) to win first doubles 8-5.  Suboleski also won third singles 6-3, 6-4.  Freshman Jill Horn (Narbeth, PA/William Penn Charter) won second singles 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) and combined with junior Kim Chambers (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) to win second doubles 8-5.  Chambers also was victorious at sixth singles 6-1, 6-3.  Freshman Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington Regional) won fifth singles 6-0, 6-4 while junior Mary Dowd (Manchester Twp., NJ/Freehold Twp.) and sophomore Katrina Musto (Boonton, NJ/Parsippany) won third doubles 8-5.

Freshman Leslee Johnson (Darnestown, MD/Northwest) won first singles 7-5, 6-4.  Freshman Amanda Granville (Hawley, PA/Wallenpanpack Area) continued her winning streak, winning fourth singles 6-1, 6-0.  Freshman Jillian Horn (Narbeth, PA/William Penn Center) won sixth singles 8-4.

CENTER VALLEY, PA – Freshmen Megan Koenig (Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington Regional) and Jillian Horn (Narbeth, PA/William Penn Charter) each won two matches but it wasn’t enough as the College at Florham Devils lost to DeSales, 5-4, on Tuesday afternoon.

 

The loss drop the Devils to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the Freedom Conference

 

Koenig won fifth singles 7-5, 6-1 while Horn won sixth singles 6-0, 6-0 and the two combined to win third doubles 8-3.  Freshman Amanda Granville (Hawley, PA/Wallenpanpack Area) moved to 3-0 in singles action this season as she won fourth singles 6-1, 6-4.

 

The Devils return to action on Thursday, September 14, at Manhattanville beginning at 3:30 pm.

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils dropped to 0-2 on the season as they lost to Stevens, 6-3, on Saturday morning.  The lone bright spot for the Devils was at fourth singles where freshman Amanda Granville (Hawley, PA/Wallenpanpack Area) won 8-3.  The Devils also picked up forfeit victories at third doubles and sixth singles.

 

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, September 12, at DeSales beginning at 4:30 pm.
