TWO DEVILS NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE

ANNVILLE, PA - Freshman forward Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and freshman midfielder Lora Fink (Hamilton, NJ/Pennington) were named Second Team All-Freedom Conference on Thursday morning.

Kanickij led the team in goals (13) and points (28) while starting every game for the Devils.  In the conference, she ranks fourth in shots, third in points, second in points per game, second in goals and second in goals per game.

Fink led the team in assists with eight which tied her for third all-time on the FDU single-season assists list.  She also put in four goals this season, tying her for third on the squad.  In the conference, she ranks seventh in shots, tied for seventh in points, eighth in points per game and first in both assists and assists per game.

DEVILS ELMINATED FROM CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT WITH DELAWARE VALLEY TIE

MADISON, NJ Š The College at Florham Devils were eliminated from the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament by virtue of a tie between Delaware Valley and Manhattanville on Sunday afternoon.  With the tie, Delaware Valley will be the fourth seed because of a head-to-head win over FDU earlier in the season.

The Devils end their season with a record of 7-11 (2-4 Freedom).

DEVILS BLANK KINGÕS, 7-0

MADISON, NJ Š The College at Florham Devils got goals from five different players as the routed KingÕs, 7-0, in Freedom Conference action on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 7-11 (2-4 Freedom) and will wait to see if Delaware Valley wins its game tomorrow to see if they will continue their season.  If Delaware Valley loses, the Devils will be the fourth seed in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament.

FDU started the scoring just 0:43 into the game when freshman forward Missy Setzer (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton) scored thanks to assists from senior midfielder Lena Kalika (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills) and freshman forward Lora Fink (Hamilton, NJ/Pennington School).  Setzer scored again in the fifth minute off a feed from Fink to give the Devils a 2-0 lead and freshman forward Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored a minute later off assists from Fink and junior forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame) to give FDU a 3-0 lead.  Sweeney scored at the 10:57 mark off a pass from senior midfielder Jordan Fornari (Cleveland, OH/Laurel School) to put the Devils ahead, 4-0.

The Devils got goals in the second half from Fink, Kanickij and sophomore defender Elise McEvoy (Wantage, NJ/High Point Regional).  FDU held a 28-5 edge in shots for the game.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) picked up the shutout win by making five saves.

DEVILS DOWNED BY ARCADIA, 3-0

GLENSIDE, PA Š The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Arcadia, 3-0, in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 6-11 (1-4 Freedom).

Arcadia scored all three of their goals in a twelve minute span late in the first half and held on in the second half to earn the victory.  Arcadia held an 18-9 edge in shots on the Devils.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) made nine saves in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at home against KingÕs for Senior Day beginning at 1 pm on the turf.

DEVILS BLANK ST. ELIZABETH, 7-0

PARSIPPANY, NJ Š The College at Florham Devils beat the College of St. Elizabeth, 7-0, on Monday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the win, the Devils improved to 6-10.

Freshman forward Lora Fink (Hamilton, NJ/Pennington School) had a goal and an assist while freshman forward Missy Setzer (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton) had two assists.  FDU got goals from seven different players and held a 44-0 edge in shots.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) played the first half in goal and scored a goal in the second half.  Freshman forward Meghan Reilly (Cinnaminson, NJ/Holy Cross) had a goal in the first half and played in net for the second half.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Arcadia beginning at 3:30 pm.

DEVILS KNOCKED OFF BY DELAWARE VALLEY, 4-1

MADISON, NJ Š The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Delaware Valley, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference action.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 5-10 (1-3 Freedom).

Delaware Valley jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 3:58 into the game but the Devils came back to tie the game at 1-1 on a goal by junior forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame) in the 25th minute.  Sweeney was assisted by freshman midfielder Lora Fink (Hamilton, NJ/Pennington School).  The Aggies took a 2-1 lead at the 32:22 mark and then a 3-1 lead just three minutes into the second half.  Delaware Valley added an insurance goal with three minutes left in the game to win, 4-1.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) made seven saves in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Monday, October 22, 2007, against St. Elizabeth at Smith Field in Parsippany beginning at 3:30 pm.

MANHATTANVILLE SCORES THREE SECOND HALF GOALS TO BEAT FDU, 4-1

PURCHASE, NY Š The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Manhattanville, 4-1, on Wednesday evening in Freedom Conference action.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 5-9 (1-2 Freedom).

The Valiants got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead at the 26:34 mark.  FDU came back six minutes later and tied it up when freshman forward Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) converted a pass from sophomore defender Elise McEvoy (Wantage, NJ/High Point Regional).  The score stayed tied at halftime, but Manhattanville scored six minutes after the break to take a 2-1 lead.  The Valiants then made it 3-1 in the 71st minute before adding an insurance goal with 0:20 left in the game.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) made 10 saves in the loss.

DEVILS WIN THRILLER OVER DESALES, 2-1 (2OT)

MADISON, NJ Š Freshman forward Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored two goals, including the game-winner 5:53 into the second overtime, as the College at Florham Devils knocked off DeSales by a score of 2-1 (2OT) on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 5-8 (1-1 Freedom).

After a scoreless first half, the Bulldogs got on the board first at the 59:24 mark.  The Devils came right back though as Kanickij tied it at 1-1 just three minutes later.  Kanickij then provided the heroics in the second overtime, converting a pass from junior forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame).

DEVILS KNOCKED OFF BY WILKES, 5-0

EDWARDSVILLE, PA Š The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Wilkes, 5-0, in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 4-8 (0-1 Freedom).

The Colonels started the scoring at the 10:34 mark but the Devils held strong and went into halftime trailing by the same score.  Wilkes opened the second half strong, scoring two goals in the first ten minutes to take a 3-0 lead and then added two insurance goals late in the game.  Wilkes held a 21-5 edge in shots.

Junior goalkeeper Dayna Morales (Brentwood, NY/Islip) made her first career start in goal and made eight saves.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 13, 2007, at home against DeSales beginning at noon.

DEVILS FALL TO RICHARD STOCKTON, 3-0

MADISON, NJ Š The College at Florham Devils fell to Richard Stockton, 3-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 4-7.

After a scoreless first half, the Ospreys erupted for three goals in an eight-minute span at the beginning of the second half to earn the victory.  Stockton held a 25-10 advantage in shots.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) made 10 saves in the loss.

DEVILS BLANKED BY ELIZABETHTOWN, 2-0

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA Š The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Elizabethtown, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 4-6 on the season.

The Blue Jays started the scoring at the 18:33 mark of the first half and then made it 2-0 in the 74th minute.  Elizabethtown held a 16-1 edge in shots and an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) made six saves in net.

DEVILS DOWNED BY WIDENER, 8-2

CHESTER, PA Š The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Widener, 8-2, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 4-5.

Widener scored the first four goals of the game before freshman forward Lora Fink (Hamilton, NJ/Pennington School) scored off a pass from senior midfielder Lena Kalika (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills) to make it 4-1 at halftime.  Two minutes into the second half, the Devils cut it to 4-2 on a goal by junior forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame).  The Pride however, scored the next four goals to put the game out of reach.

DEVILS LOSE IN DOUBLE OVERTIME TO WILLIAM PATERSON, 1-0

MADISON, NJ Š The College at Florham Devils lost a double overtime thriller to William Paterson, 1-0, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 4-4.

Each team had a few chances to score in regulation but it wasnÕt until the 4:15 into the second overtime that the Pioneers converted the game-winner.  The Devils actually held a 15-8 advantage in shots and a 10-3 edge in corner kicks.

DEVILS BLANKED BY ST. JOSEPHÕS (L.I.), 3-0

MADISON, NJ Š The College at Florham Devils were defeated by St. JosephÕs (L.I.), 3-0, on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 4-3 on the season.

The Eagles got on the board at the 21:39 mark on a goal by sophomore forward Angie Merante (Holtsville, NY/Sachem), who scored all three Eagle goals.  Eight minutes later, Merante made it 2-0 and then in the 66th minute she converted again to put the Eagles up 3-0.

KANICKIJ LEAD DEVILS PAST MARYWOOD, 5-0

MADISON, NJ Š Freshman forward Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored two goals and added two assists to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 5-0 win over Marywood on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 4-2.

Junior forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame) started things off at the 29:14 mark when she converted a pass from Kanickij.  The scored stayed that way until Kanickij scored off a pass from freshman forward Lora Fink (Hamilton, NJ/Pennington School) in the 64th minute to give the Devils a 2-0 lead.  Four minutes later, senior midfielder Lena Kalika (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills) scored the first of her two goals off a feed from Kanickij to put FDU up 3-0.  Kalika scored in the 76th minute off an assist from Fink and Kanickij scored three minutes later to complete the scoring for the Devils.

DEVILS KNOCKED OFF BY RAMAPO, 3-0

MAHWAH, NJ Š The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Ramapo, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-2 on the season.

Ramapo jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 24:12 mark, and the increased it to 2-0 just 0:58 before the half.  The Roadrunners would add an insurance goal in the 54th minute to make it 3-0.

KANICKIJ NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ANNVILLE, PA - Freshman forward Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was named Freedom Conference Player of the Week on Monday afternoon after leading the Devils to a 2-1 week.

She started the week on Tuesday against the College of Staten Island by scoring two goals in a 3-0 win.  Then in the DevilsÕ home opener on Thursday against Mt. St. Vincent, she scored two more goals in a 6-1 win.  On Saturday against Kean, she scored the lone goal in a 3-1 defeat that was FDUÕs first loss of the season.

On the season, she leads the team with five goals and 10 points.

DEVILS DOWNED BY KEAN, 3-1

MADISON, NJ Š The College at Florham Devils suffered their first loss of the season, a 3-1 defeat to Kean on Saturday morning in non-conference action.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-1 on the season.

Kean scored the first two goals of the game before freshman forward Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) connected off a pass from senior midfielder Lena Kalika (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills) to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 65th minute.  The Devils had chances to pull even but in the 78th minute Kean added an insurance goal to go ahead 3-1.

KALIKA, KANICKIJ, ROOT LEAD DEVILS PAST DOLPHINS, 6-1

MADISON, NJ Š Senior midfielder Lena Kalika (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills) and freshman forward Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) each had two goals while junior midfielder Beth Root (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) had a goal and three assists to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 6-1 win over Mt. St. Vincent on Thursday evening.

With the win, the Devils are now 3-0.

Freshman forward Lora Fink (Hamilton, NJ/Pennington School) started the scoring 30 minutes into the game when she converted a pass from Root.  Kanickij followed three minutes later unassisted to make it 2-0 and Kalika scored a minute after that on another assist by Root to put the Devils up 3-0 going into halftime.

Kalika started the scoring in the second half at the 56:38 mark when she converted another pass from Root.  Kanickij made the score 5-0 two minutes later off an assist from junior forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame).  The Dolphins cut it to 5-1 before Root scored off a pass from Fink with three minutes left in the game to put FDU up 6-1.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) made one save to pick up the win.  Buyes has not allowed a goal yet this season.  FDU held a 52-2 advantage in shots.

DEVILS BLANK STATEN ISLAND, 3-0

STATEN ISLAND, NY Š Freshman forward Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored two goals and junior forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame) added a goal and an assist to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 3-0 win over Staten Island on Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 2-0 on the season.

Sweeney started the scoring just before halftime to put the Devils up 1-0.  Kanickij then made the score 2-0 in the 58th minute and added then padded the lead to 3-0 off a feed from Sweeney in the 70th minute.

Junior goalie Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) made eight saves in net to pick up the shutout win.

DEVILS WIN SEASON OPENER OVER FARMINGDALE, 1-0

FARMINGDALE, NY Š The College at Florham Devils won their season opening game, 1-0, over Farmingdale on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils stand at 1-0.

Freshman forward Missy Setzer (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton) scored the lone goal off a pass from junior midfielder Beth Root (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) at the 30:30 mark.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) made five saves in net for the win.

DEVILS PICKED TO FINISH FOURTH IN CONFERENCE POLL

ANNVILLE, PA Š The College at Florham Devils were picked to finish fourth out of seven teams in the preseason Freedom Conference coaches poll.  Here is how the voting went:

RIVERA, DALY NAMED TO D3KICKS.COM ALL-REGION TEAM

MADISON, NJ Š Senior defender Kathleen Rivera (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrenceville) and senior midfielder Kate Daly (South River, NJ/South River) were named to the d3kicks.com Mid Atlantic All-Region Team.  Rivera was named to the First Team while Daly was a Third Team selection.

Rivera was a four-time All-Freedom Conference selection.  This season, she helped anchor a defense that was fourth in the conference in goals against average.  She also chipped in an assist on the season and is first All-Time in career assists.

Daly is a three-time All-Freedom Conference choice.  She was second on the team in goals (8) and tied for second in points (17).  Her eight goals ranked her seventh in the conference and her three game-winners tied her for fourth.

DEVILS FALL TO GETTYSBURG, 1-0, IN ECAC TITLE GAME

NEW WILMINGTON, PA - Gettysburg got a goal with 14:44 left to play in regulation to beat the College at Florham Devils, 1-0, in the Championship Game of the ECAC South Region Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils end their season with a record of 14-7-2.

Kathryn Poster took a pass from Steph Heath that beat Devils senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) for the game-winner.

The Devils were out-shot 15-6 in the contest with Braun making eight saves in net.

SECOND HALF SURGE LEADS DEVILS TO TITLE GAME

NEW WILMINGTON, PA Š Senior midfielder Kate Daly (South River, NJ/South River) had two goals and sophomore forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame) had a goal and an assist in the second half to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 3-0 win over Swarthmore on Saturday afternoon.  With the win, the Devils improved to 14-6-2 and advance to the finals of the ECAC South Region where they will take on Gettysburg on Sunday at 1 pm.

Daly got the Devils on the board at the 59:40 mark after a scoreless first half.  Daly knocked home a pass from Sweeney to give FDU a 1-0 lead.

In the 68th minute Sweeney made it a 2-0 game when she converted a pass from junior midfielder Lena Kalika (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills) and just two minutes later, Daly put the game out of reach when she scored unassisted to give the Devils a 3-0 advantage.

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) stopped six shots in net to pick up the shutout win.

DEVILS BEAT CATHOLIC, 2-1, TO ADVANCE IN ECAC TOURNAMENT

MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils rallied from a 1-0 deficit to beat Catholic, 2-1, in the Quarterfinals of the ECAC South Region WomenÕs Soccer Tournament on Thursday afternoon.  The Devils will now wait for an opponent to be determined at a location to be determined.

With the win, the Devils improved to 13-6-2 while Catholic ended the season at 11-8-1.

Sophomore forward Suzie Peters (Nanuet, NY/Albertus Magnus) put the Cardinals up, 1-0, when she knocked in a corner kick pass from sophomore midfielder Elyse Bellardini (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) just 5:20 into the game.

FDU tied it, 1-1, in the 28th minute on a goal by senior midfielder Kate Daly (South River, NJ/South River).  The Devils then took the load for good at the 35:22 mark when sophomore forward Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) converted a pass from freshman forward Diana Dunnan (Westfield, NJ/Westfield).

Catholic held a 16-9 advantage in shots and a 4-3 edge in corners.

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) had eight saves in net to pick up the win.

FOUR DEVILS NAMED ALL-CONFERENCE

ANNVILLE, PA - Senior defender Kathleen Rivera (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrenceville) was named First Team All-Freedom Conference while senior midfielders Kate Daly (South River, NJ/South River) and Laura Verzi (Delran, NJ/Delran) and sophomore forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame) were named to the Second Team on Thursday morning.

For Rivera, this is the fourth time she has been an All-Freedom Conference selection.  This season, she helped anchor a defense that was fourth in the conference in goals against average.  She also chipped in an assist on the season.

This is DalyÕs third All-Conference selection.  She was second on the team in goals (8) and tied for second in points (17).  Her eight goals ranked her seventh in the conference and her three game-winners tied her for fourth.

Verzi garnered her first All-Conference honor.  She was named Conference Player of the Week for the week of October 16.  Verzi was third on the team in goals (6) and tied for second in assists (5) and points (17).  Her five assists tied her for sixth in the conference.

Sweeney earned All-Conference for the first time after being named Conference Player of the Week for the week of October 9.  Sweeney led the team in goals (9) and points (23) while being tied for second in assists (5).  In the conference she ranks fourth in shots, tied for fourth in points, tied for fifth in goals, tied for sixth in assists and tied for fourth in game-winning goals.

FRESHMEN LEAD SCRANTON TO FREEDOM CONFERENCE TITLE

MADISON, NJ - Freshmen defender Beth Stephens (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) and forward Eileen Sodano (Moscow, PA/North Pocono) each scored a goal to lift Scranton to a 2-1 win over the College at Florham to win the Freedom Conference WomenÕs Soccer Championship on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Royals improved to 12-6-2 while the Devils dropped to 12-6-2.  Junior midfielder Laura Gibbons (Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) was named the Tournament MVP.

Stephens got things started at the 16:06 mark when she dropped a free kick right over the out-stretched hand of Devils senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville).

Scranton took the 1-0 lead into halftime and just two minutes into the second half, Sodano increased the lead to 2-0.

FDU would battle back though and cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 70:00 mark on a goal by junior midfielder Lena Kalika (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills).  The Devils would have a chance to tie the game with under 2:00 left to play but a shot by senior midfielder Kate Daly (South River, NJ/South River) clanged off the post.

Scranton will move on to play in the Division III NCAA Championships while the Devils will wait to see if they get an invitation for postseason play.

BUYES LIFTS DEVILS PAST DESALES, 4-3 (OT)

MADISON, NJ - Sophomore forward Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) knocked in a rebound from sophomore forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame) with 0:09 to play in the first overtime to lift the No. 1 seeded College at Florham Devils over No. 4 seeded DeSales, 4-3 (OT), on Wednesday afternoon in the semifinals of the Freedom Conference playoffs.

With the win, the Devils improved to 12-5-2 and will play host to No. 2 seed Scranton in the Freedom Conference Finals on Saturday, November 1, at 11 am.

FDU got on the board first when junior midfielder Jordan Fornari (Cleveland, OH/Laurel School) converted a corner kick from senior midfielder Laura Verzi (Delran, NJ/Delran).

After trailing 1-0 at halftime, DeSales scored two goals in a span of 0:27 to take a 2-1 lead just 3:33 into the second half.  Sophomore midfielder Nicole Pietrobon (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) scored the first goal and sophomore forward Dana Eustace (Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Township) put the Bulldogs ahead.

Five minutes later, Sweeney scored off a pass from Fornari to tie the game at 2-2.  The Bulldogs went back ahead, 3-2, at the 67:27 mark on EustaceÕs second goal of the day.  With 6:14 left to play, Verzi scored on a free kick to tie the game once again.

The game looked to be going into another overtime but Sweeney fired a shot past senior goalkeeper Kelly Hinkle (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) that hit the post and Buyes booted the ball into a wide-open with 0:09 left to give the Devils a 4-3 win.

DEVILS RALLY TO BEAT KINGÕS, 2-1

WILKES-BARRE, PA Š The College at Florham Devils rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to knock off KingÕs, 2-1, on Friday afternoon.  With the win, the Devils improved to 11-5-2 (6-0-1 Freedom Conference).  FDU finished the regular season unbeaten in conference play and will host a first round Freedom Conference playoff game on Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm.

After Lisa McMillan gave KingÕs a 1-0 lead with 13:20 to play in the first half, junior midfielder Jordan Fornari (Cleveland, OH/Laurel School) converted a pass from senior midfielder Laura Verzi (Delran, NJ/Delran) to tie the game at 1-1 with 40:03 left in the game.

Twenty minutes later, senior midfielder Kate Daly (South River, NJ/South River) put the Devils ahead for good when she knocked a home a rebound.

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) made saves in net for the win.

DEVILS DROP HEARTBREAKER TO SUSQUEHANNA, 3-2 (2OT)

MADISON, NJ Š Despite tying the game at 2-2 with 0:10 left to play in regulation, the College at Florham Devils were defeated by Susquehanna, 3-2 (2OT), on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon in womenÕs soccer action.

The loss dropped the Devils to 10-5-2 on the season.

The Crusaders took a 2-0 lead before sophomore forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame) cut the deficit to 2-1 just 2:44 before halftime.

Things looked bleak for the Devils until junior midfielder Lena Kalika (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills) found freshman midfielder Lauren Kelly (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) with 0:10 left to tie it up.

FDU looked like it might come away with a tie but Erin Coffey scored with 3:17 left to play in the second overtime to give Susquehanna the win.

Five seniors played their last regular season home game for the Devils:  goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville), defender Kathleen Rivera (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrenceville), midfielder Laura Verzi (Delran, NJ/Delran), midfielder Kate Daly (South River, NJ/South River) and forward Lauren Wittenberg (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown)

The Devils return to action on Friday, October 27, at KingÕs beginning at 3 pm.

DEVILS PLAY DELAWARE VALLEY TO 0-0 (2OT) TIE

DOYLESTOWN, PA Š The College at Florham Devils and Delaware Valley Aggies played to a 0-0 (2OT) tie on Wednesday afternoon.  With the tie, the Devils record now stands at 10-4-2 (5-0-1 Freedom Conference).

The Devils outshot the Aggies 19-11 and their best chance for a goal came with 5:16 left in the second overtime when senior midfielder Kate Daly (South River, NJ/South River) had the Aggies defenders beat but her shot went wide right.

Delaware Valley had a breakaway by Elise Dauber with 1:29 to go in regulation but she was stone by senior goalie Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville), who finished with four saves in the game.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 21, at home against Susquehanna on Senior Day beginning at 1 pm.

VERZI NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ANNVILLE, PA - Senior midfielder Laura Verzi (Delran, NJ/Delran) has been named Freedom Conference WomenÕs Soccer Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Devils to their first ever win over Scranton on Saturday afternoon.

In that game, Verzi score game-winner in the 40th minute to give the Devils the win and sole possession of first place in the Freedom Conference.  Earlier in the week on Wednesday, she notched a goal and an assist to lead the Devils past non-conference foe Widener.

On the season, Verzi has five goals and three assists for 13 points.  She has also helped the Devils to a No. 9 ranking in the d3kicks.com Mid-Atlantic Region poll.

DEVILS BEAT SCRANTON FOR FIRST TIME IN SCHOOL HISTORY, 2-1

MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils beat Scranton for the first time in school history, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon in womenÕs soccer action.  All of the scoring came in the first half as the Devils held the Royals to just two shots in the game.

With the win, the Devils improved to 10-4-1 (5-0 Freedom Conference) and now have sole possession of first place in the conference.  The loss dropped Scranton to 8-4-1 (4-1 Freedom Conference).

Senior midfielder Kate Daly (South River, NJ/South River) scored just 12:14 into the game off a pass from sophomore forward Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.

Scranton tied it, 1-1, in the 28th minute when Angie Bartizal converted a rebound off a penalty kick.

FDU went ahead for good 4:25 before the intermission as senior midfielder Laura Verzi (Delran, NJ/Delran) knocked home a pass from junior forward Lena Kalika (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills).

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) made one save in net to pick up the win.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, October 18, at Delaware Valley beginning at 4 pm.

DEVILS SCORE WITH 2:35 LEFT TO BEAT WIDENER, 2-1

MADISON, NJ - Junior midfielder Lena Kalika (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills) headed in a pass from senior midfielder Laura Verzi (Delran, NJ/Delran) with 2:35 remaining in the game to give the College at Florham Devils a 2-1 victory over Widener in womenÕs soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 9-4-1 on the season.

Verzi got the Devils on the board 14:44 into the game when she beat Pride freshman goaltender Alee Gunter (Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) on a penalty kick.

Widener tied the game, 1-1, in the 51st minute when junior midfielder Samantha Hand (Millville, NJ/Millville converted a pass from junior forward Melanie Miller (Ardsley, PA/Bishop McDevitt).

Senior goalie Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) made eight stops in net to pick up the win while Gunter had seven saves in defeat.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 14, at home against Scranton at 1 pm.

SWEENEY NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ANNVILLE, PA - Sophomore forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame) was named Freedom Conference Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Devils to a key conference victory.

On Saturday, Sweeney recorded a hat trick in the Devils 3-1 victory over conference rival Wilkes.  In a battle of undefeated teams in conference play, SweeneyÕs heroics helped the Devils gain a tie of first place in the Freedom Conference.

On the season, Sweeney leads the team in goals (7) and points (18) while being tied for the lead in assists (4).

SWEENEY LEAD DEVILS TO 3-1 WIN OVER WILKES

MADISON, NJ - Sophomore forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame) had three goals to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 3-1 win over Wilkes in womenÕs soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

Senior midfielder Laura Verzi (Delran, NJ/Delran) assisted on two of SweeneyÕs goals.

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) picked up the win in net, making five saves.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, October 11, at home against Widener beginning at 4 pm.

DEVILS DOWNED BY STOCKTON, 2-0

POMONA, NJ - Freshman Samantha Bean (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) scored her first two career goals to lead Richard Stockton (8-2-2) to a 2-0 victory over FDU-Florham (7-4-1) in a women's soccer game tonight.  The Ospreys posted their second consecutive shutout victory and ended FDU-Florham's five-game unbeaten streak.

Stockton goalkeeper Alex Rogers (Medford/Shawnee) needed just one save to collect her fourth shutout of the season. Devils' goalie Melissa Braun (Sayreville/Sayreville) registered five saves in the match.

Stockton outshot FDU-Florham 7-1 in the first half but could not capitalize and the contest was scoreless at intermission. In the second stanza, Melissa Scully (Gloucester Twp./Highland) served the ball into the box where Bean cut in front of Braun and flicked a header into the net for her first career tally and a 1-0 Stockton lead at 48:45.

Bean later received a pass from Amber Beyerle (Shamong/Shawnee) and booted her second goal of the night at 62:40 to boost the advantage to 2-0. From there, the Ospreys protected the shutout for the 2-0 triumph.

FDU-Florham will host Wilkes in a Freedom Conference game on Saturday at 1 pm.

BRAUN NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ANNVILLE, PA - Senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) has been named Freedom Conference Defensive Player of the Week in womenÕs soccer on Monday afternoon.

Braun started the week by making five saves in a 1-0 (OT) win over conference foe DeSales.  Then on Saturday, the Devils traveled to Lycoming where Braun made two saves in a 2-0.

On the season, Braun has a 1.12 goals against average and four shutouts.

WILLIAMSPORT, PA Š Senior midfielder Laura Verzi (Delran, NJ/Delran) and senior forward Lauren Wittenberg (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) each scored goals to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 2-0 victory over Lycoming on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 7-3-1 (3-0 Freedom Conference).

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) picked up the shutout win in goal.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, October 4, at Richard Stockton beginning at 7 pm.

VERZI, BRAUN LIFT DEVILS PAST DESALES, 1-0 (OT)

MADISON, NJ - Senior midfielder Laura Verzi (Delran, NJ/Delran) scored a goal 2:28 into overtime to give the College at Florham Devils a 1-0 win over DeSales in womenÕs soccer action on Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 6-3-1 (2-0 Freedom Conference).

Verzi converted a pass from sophomore forward Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) for the game winner.

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) made five saves to pick up the shutout win in net.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 30, at Lycoming beginning at 4 pm.

DEVILS AND VALIANTSTIE, 0-0 (2OT)

MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils and the Manhattanville Valiants played to a 0-0 (2OT) tie on Saturday afternoon in womenÕs soccer action.

The Devils record now stands at 5-3-1 while the Valiants are 5-2-1.

FDU outshout Manhattanville 12-7, however Manhattanville had a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. 

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) made four stops for FDU while senior goalie Michele Ribeiro (West Hartford, CT) had three saves for Manhattanville.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, September 26, at home against DeSales beginning at 4 pm.  Manhattanville returns Wednesday, September 27, at New Paltz at 4 pm.

BUYES LEADS DEVILS OVER DREW, 2-1 (2OT)

MADISON, NJ - Sophomore forward Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) scored two goals, including the game winner 3:32 into the second overtime, as the College at Florham Devils knocked off Drew, 2-1, in womenÕs soccer action on Thursday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 5-3 (1-0 Freedom Conference) while the Rangers dropped to 2-5 (0-1 Freedom Conference).

Buyes started the scoring 12:37 into the game when she knocked home a rebound that Drew sophomore goalie Ann Mularz (Linden, NJ/Linden) couldnÕt control.

Drew tied it, 1-1, in the 55th minute when senior defender Alex Weber Reitz (Brea, CA/Troy) converted a penalty kick.

After a scoreless first overtime, Buyes headed in a pass from junior forward Lena Kalika (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills) to win it for the Devils.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 23, at home against Manhattanville beginning at 1 pm.  Drew returns at home against Catholic at 3 pm.

DALY LEADS DEVILS TO 3-2 WIN OVER ST. JOSEPHÕS (L.I.)

MADISON, NJ - Senior midfielder Kate Daly (South River, NJ/South River) scored two goals, including the game winner in overtime, as the College at Florham Devils rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to knock off St. JosephÕs (L.I.), 3-2, on Tuesday afternoon in womenÕs soccer action.

With the win, the Devils improved to 4-3 on the season.

Junior midfielder Jessica Ragazzi (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) got the Golden Eagles on the board in the 20th minute and freshman forward Jackie Barbour (West Islip, NY/West Islip) made it 2-0 with 32:53 gone by in the first half.

Freshman defender Elise McEvoy (Wantage, NJ/High Point Regional) cut the Golden Eagle lead to 2-1 just 4:29 into the second half and Daly converted a pass from senior defender Kathleen Rivera (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrenceville) three minutes later to tie the game up, 2-2.

The Devils came close to scoring the game winner in the final moments of regulation but were turned away by sophomore goalie Courtney Caden (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) to force overtime.

With only 0:25 seconds left in the first overtime, Daly took a pass from sophomore forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame) and found the back of the net for the win.

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) got the win, making one save while Caden made seven stops in defeat.

The Devils return to action on Thursday, September 21, against Drew beginning at 4 pm.

DEVILS SHUTOUT BY NYU, 3-0

STATEN ISLAND, NY Š Whitney Dipollina scored two goals to lead NYU to a 3-0 win over the College at Florham Devils on Sunday afternoon.  With the loss, the Devils record now stands at 3-3.

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) was busy all day, making nine saves as NYU had a 23-3 edge in shots and a 12-1 lead in shots on goal.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, September 19, at home against St. JosephÕs Patchogue beginning at 4 pm.

BUYES, DALY LEAD DEVILS PAST RAMAPO, 2-1

MADISON, NJ - Junior forward Amanda Buyes (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) scored 76:40 in the game and senior midfielder Kate Daly (South River, NJ/South River) scored 2:10 later as the College at Florham Devils handed Ramapo their first lost of the season, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon in womenÕs soccer action.

The Devils improved to 3-2 on the season while Ramapo dropped to 3-1-1.

Buyes converted a pass from junior midfielder Lena Kalika (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills) in the 76th minute to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.  Daly followed up at the 78:50 mark to put FDU ahead 2-0.

Sophomore midfielder Shana Egan (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) scored off a pass from senior forward Amy Ketchersid (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant) to cut the lead to 2-1 with 4:00 minutes left to play.  Ramapo had a few chances at tying the game in the closing minutes but were denied by Devils senior goalie Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville)

Braun had six saves in the win while junior goalkeeper Samantha Gribben (Pequannock, NJ/Pequannock) had five saves in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Sunday, September 17, at NYU beginning at 2 pm.

DEVILS DOWNED BY PIONEERS, 4-1

WAYNE, NJ Š William Paterson scored four goals in the first 50:16 of action to knock off the College at Florham Devils, 4-1, on Saturday morning.  The Devils (2-2) got a goal with 0:30 second remaining to avoid the shutout.

Sophomore forward Megan Sweeney (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame) scored for FDU off a pass from senior midfielder Lauren Wittenberg (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown).

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Braun (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) made five saves in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, September 13, at home against Ramapo beginning at 4:30 pm.

COUGARS OUTLAST DEVILS IN 2OT, 2-1

HILLSIDE, N.J. (9/6/06) ‚Äģ Kean University junior midfielder Shannon Blackburn (Vernon, N.J.) scored the game-winner off a rebound just three minutes into the second overtime, as the Cougars outlasted FDU-Florham, 2-1, in women‚Äōs soccer action on Wednesday afternoon. Kean improved to 2-0, while FDU-Florham dropped to 2-1 this season.

In a rematch of last season‚Äōs Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro Region Championship Game in which the Devils won the title on penalty kicks, the Cougars jumped out to the early lead as senior midfielder Brienne Campbell (Freehold, N.J.) floated a direct kick over the Devil goalkeeper less than two minutes into the contest.

FDU-Florham tied the game later in the first half, as junior midfielder Lena Kalika (Green Brook, N.J.) found the back of the net following a rebounded shot.
