DEVILS DOWNED BY KING’S, 2-1

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by King’s, 3-1, in Freedom Conference action on Saturday evening.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-10 (0-3 Freedom) while the Monarchs improved to 11-1-2 (1-1-1 Freedom).

The Devils got on the board first thanks to a goal by junior midfielder Brian Hurley (Wall, NJ/Wall) at the 17:24 mark.  The Devils held that lead until there was 19:36 left in the game when King’s tied it at 1-1.  The Monarchs then scored the game winner with 4:46 left to play to earn the win.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Herbert (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) made four saves in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at home against Manhattanville beginning at 3:30 pm.

DEVILS FALL TO PHILADELPHIA BIBLICAL, 3-0

LANGHONRE, PA – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Philadelphia Biblical, 3-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-9.

PBU started the scoring at the 29:22 mark and then made it 2-0 just 0:43 into the second half.  They would add a third goal with 7:13 left in the game.  The Devils held a 13-11 edge in shots while PBU had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 11, 2008, at King’s beginning at 7 pm.

DEVILS BLANKED BY ALVERNIA, 3-0

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Alvernia, 3-0, in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon in an ugly game that saw seven yellow cards called on FDU.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-8 (0-2 Freedom) while the Crusaders improved to 3-6-1 (1-1 Freedom).

Alvernia took a 1-0 lead at the 22:50 mark and made it 2-0 with 26:15 left in the game.  The Crusaders added an insurance goal with 6:13 remaining to round out the scoring at 3-0.  Alvernia held an 11-2 edge in shots and a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Freshman goalkeeper Casey Koplik (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) came on in relief to make two saves.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at Philadelphia Biblical beginning at 4 pm.

KINSLEY LEADS DEVILS TO 3-1 WIN OVER JOHN JAY

MADISON, NJ – Sophomore forward Matt Kinsley (Pearl River, NJ/Pearl River) scored two goals to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 3-1 win over John Jay in non-conference action on Monday evening.

With the win, the Devils improved to 3-7.

The Devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 16:49 mark when junior midfielder Matt Dell Elba (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills) found the back of the net.  Kinsley made it 2-0 just nine minutes later when he headed in a beautiful pass from junior defender Dave Rogers (North Hanover, NJ/Northern Burlington).  Kinsley then gave FDU a 3-0 advantage with 12:22 left in the came when he converted a pass from freshman forward David Best (Westminster, MA/Winchendon).  John Jay got on the board with 3:33 left in the game to round out the scoring.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Herbert (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) made three saves in net to earn the win.

DEVILS DOWNED BY DESALES, 4-1

CENTER VALLEY, PA – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by DeSales, 4-1, in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 2-7 (0-1 Freedom) while the Bulldogs improved to 5-5 (1-0 Freedom).

DeSales scored the first three goals of the game, all in the first half, before sophomore defender John Gaw (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills) converted a penalty kick to make it 3-1 with 32:06 left in the game.  The Bulldogs tacked on another goal to make it 4-1 with 19:51 left to play.

DEVILS BLANK STATEN ISLAND, 5-0

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils knocked off Staten Island, 5-0, in non-conference action on Monday evening at Shields Field.

With the win, the Devils improved to 2-6.

The Devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 6:50 into the game when senior forward Matt Martone (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) converted a pass from junior defender Dave Rogers (North Hanover, NJ/Northern Burlington).  The score stayed that way until 0:58 into the second half when sophomore midfielder Mauricio Rosas (West Long Branch, NJ/Shore) knocked in a feed from sophomore forward Matt Kinsley (Pearl River, NJ/Pearl River).  The Devils got three insurance goals from Rosas, Kinsley and sophomore defender John Gaw (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills) to round out the scoring.

DEVILS FALL TO ARCADIA, 2-0

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Arcadia, 2-0, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 1-6.

The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 0:27 into the game and they made that goal stand before adding an insurance tally at the 65:16 mark.  Arcadia held a 17-5 edge in shots and a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

DEVILS PICK UP FIRST WIN OF SEASON, 3-1, OVER HUNTER

NEW YORK, NY – The College at Florham Devils won their first game of the 2008 season, 3-1, over Hunter in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 1-5.

The Devils took a 1-0 lead at the 24:15 mark on a goal by junior midfielder Brian Hurley (Wall, NJ/Wall).  FDU made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute when sophomore defender John Gaw (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills) converted a penalty kick.  Hunter cut it to 2-1 nine minutes later but sophomore forward Matt Kinsley (Pearl River, NJ/Pearl River) scored an insurance goal just 0:36 later to give the Devils a 3-1 lead and the victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Hebert (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) made seven saves in net for the win.

DEVILS FALL TO BROOKLYN, 4-2

BROOKLYN, NY – The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Brooklyn College, 4-2, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Kingsborough Community College.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-5 on the season.

Brooklyn got on the board first with a goal at the 22:10 mark but the Devils came back to tie it at 1-1 when sophomore defender John Gaw (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills) converted a penalty kick just three minutes later.  The Bridges would make it 2-1 before halftime and would score the first two goals of the second half to take a 4-1 lead with 16:31 left to play in the game.  Sophomore forward Matt Kinsley (Pearl River, NJ/Pearl River) made it 4-2 at the 78:39 mark but that was as close as the Devils would get.

DEVILS BLANKED BY WILLIAM PATERSON, 6-0

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were beaten by William Paterson, 6-0, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-4.

William Paterson took a 1-0 lead with 4:09 gone by in the first half and made it 2-0 at the 16:17 mark.  They would then make it 3-0 eight minutes later before scoring three more goals all in the second half.

DEVILS DOWNED BY RAMAPO, 3-0

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Ramapo, 3-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-3.

Ramapo got on the board first with 9:20 left in the first half.  The Roadrunners then tacked on two late goals in the last 20:00 to get the win over the Devils.  Ramapo held a 20-4 advantage in shots over FDU.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Herbert (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) made eight saves in the loss.

DEVILS FALL TO STEVENS, 9-0

HOBOKEN, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Stevens, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon on the second day of the Stevens Tournament.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-2.

Stevens got on the board 19:14 into the game and made it 2-0 just 1:24 later.  The Ducks would add three more goals in the first half to make it 5-0 at intermission.  Stevens out-shot FDU by a count of 36-0.  Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Herbert (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) started and made six saves.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, with their home opener against Ramapo beginning at 3:30 pm.

DEVILS KNOCKED OFF BY TCNJ, 3-0, IN SEASON OPENER

HOBOKEN, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by TCNJ, 3-0, in the season opener for both teams at the Stevens Tournament on Saturday morning.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-1 on the season.

TCNJ got on the board at the 37:59 mark before making it 2-0 with three minutes left before halftime.  The Lions then added an insurance goal with 5:15 left to play in the game.  The TCNJ defense allowed only one shot by the Devils, coming in the second half.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Herbert (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) made 11 saves for FDU.

DEVILS PICKED TO FINISH 8TH IN PRESEASON POLL

ANNVILLE, PA – The College at Florham Devils were picked to finish eighth in the preseason Freedom Conference Coaches poll on Monday afternoon.  Here are the full results of the poll:

MALCOLM NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE

ANNVILLE, PA - Sophomore forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point) was named Second Team All-Freedom Conference on Wednesday morning after helping the Devils to an 8-8-3 record and the Freedom Conference Tournament.

On the season, Malcolm led the team in goals (10), points (21) and shots (67).  His 67 shots rank him third All-Time on the FDU single-season shots chart.  Malcolm also had four game-winning goals for the Devils.  In the conference, he was tied for first in shots, third in shots per game, tied for second in points, tied for fourth in points per game, tied for second in goals, third in goals per game and tied for first in game-winning goals.

DEVILS DOWNED BY DESALES, 2-0

CENTER VALLEY, PA – The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by DeSales, 2-0, in the Semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.  FDU is now eliminated from the conference tournament and will await an ECAC bid.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 8-8-3.

DeSales jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 7:33 into the game and then proceeded to hold the Devils scoreless for the next 72:00 until the Bulldogs added an insurance goal in the 80th minute.  FDU had a couple of chances to tie the game but could not convert allowing DeSales to move on.  The Bulldogs held a 15-10 edge in shots in the game.

DEVILS KNOCKED OFF BY KING’S, 2-1

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by King’s, 2-1, in Freedom Conference action on Sunday afternoon.  The Devils will now be the fourth seed in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament while the Monarchs will be the third seed.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 8-7-3 (2-2-2 Freedom).  FDU will play top seeded DeSales in the Semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament.

The Devils got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead at the 13:40 mark on a goal by sophomore forward Jonathon Jerome (Randolph, NJ/Randolph).  He was assisted on the play by freshman forward Kyle Mecham (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug).  King’s game back to tie the game, 1-1, about six minutes later and then took a 2-1 lead just 3:57 before halftime.  The Devils never really threatened in the second half and the Monarchs pulled out the win.

MALCOLM HELPS DEVILS BEAT ARCADIA, 2-1, CLINCH FREEDOM BERTH

GLENSIDE, PA – Sophomore forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point) scored two goals to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 2-1 win over Arcadia in Freedom Conference action on Thursday afternoon.  The Devils have now clinched a spot in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament for the first time since 2002.

With the win, the Devils improved to 8-6-2 (2-1-2 Freedom).

Malcolm started the scoring in the 31st minute when he converted a pass from senior midfielder Mike Konopka (Branchville, NJ/High Point).  He then made it 2-0 at the 80:57 mark when he scored off a feed from freshman forward Kyle Mecham (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug).  Arcadia cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 86th minute but the Devils wouldn’t allow them any closer and escaped with the win.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at home for Senior Day against King’s beginning at 1 pm.  The winner of the game will be the third seed in the conference tournament; the loser will be the fourth seed.

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils and Delaware Valley played to a 0-0 (2OT) tie in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Devils held a 20-9 edge in shots and an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks but could not find the net.

MECHAM LEADS DEVILS TO 2-1 WIN OVER MANHATTANVILLE

PURCHASE, NY – Freshman forward Kyle Mecham (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug) scored two goals to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 2-1 win over Manhattanville in Freedom Conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 7-6-2 (1-1-1 Freedom).

Mecham started the scoring just 4:54 into the game when he converted a pass from sophomore defender Lee Selby (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick).  He then made it 2-0 at the 14:55 mark off a feed from freshman midfielder Tighe Kellner (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon).  The Valiants cut the lead to 2-1 in the 77th minute but were unable to get any closer and the Devils picked up the win.

DEVILS TIE DESALES, 1-1 (2OT)

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils and the DeSales Bulldogs played to a 1-1 (2OT) tied on Saturday afternoon.  For the Devils, it was their second straight tie.

With the tie, the Devils are now 6-6-2 (0-1-1 Freedom).

DeSales got on the board first, just three minutes into the game.  FDU came back and tied the score at 1-1 in the 31st minute on a goal by freshman forward Kyle Mecham (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug).  Each team had chances to score during regulation and overtime but could not convert.

Freshman goalkeeper Kevin Herbert (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) made his first career start and stopped eight shots.

DEVILS, GWYNEDD-MARCY PLAY TO 0-0 TIE

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils played to a 0-0 (2OT) tie with Gwynedd-Mercy on Wednesday evening in non-conference action.

With the tie, the Devils now stand at 6-6-1 for the season.

Each team had numerous chances to score both in regulation and in the overtime periods but excellent defense and goalkeeping kept the score tied.  Each team had 17 shots while the Devils held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made four saves in goal.

EDWARDSVILLE, PA – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Wilkes, 2-0, in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 6-6 (0-1 Freedom).

Wilkes took a 1-0 lead just six minutes before the half and the score stayed that way until the 82nd minute when the Colonels tacked on an insurance goal to ensure the victory.  The Devils had some chances to tie the game early in the second half but could not convert.

The Devils scored the game-winner at the 36:11 mark thanks to a goal by freshman forward Matt Dell Elba (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills).  Dell Elba converted a pass from freshman forward Jonathan Golan (Ocean, NJ/Ocean)

Senior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made seven saves to pick up the shutout.

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Rutgers-Newark, 1-0, on Monday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 5-5.

The Scarlet Raiders scored the game winner with 9:45 left to play in the first half on a penalty kick.  Rutgers-Newark held a 19-9 edge in shots over the Devils.

Junior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made eight saves in the loss.

QUEENS, NY – Sophomore forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point) scored three goals to lead the College at Florham Devils past John Jay, 4-0, on Wednesday evening in non-conference action.

With the win, the Devils improved to 5-4.

Malcolm started the scoring in the 26th minute to put the Devils up, 1-0.  He then made it 2-0 at the 49:33 mark, and then 3-0 in the 60th minute off a pass from freshman midfielder Matt Kinsley (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River).  Junior midfielder Matt Martone (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) finished off the scoring, converting a pass from sophomore midfielder Brian Hurley (Wall, NJ/Wall)

STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College at Florham Devils scored with 3:48 left to play in regulation to beat Staten Island, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the win, the Devils improved to 4-4.

The Devils started the scoring 10:56 into the game when junior midfielder Matt Martone (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) converted a pass from sophomore defender Dave Rogers (Wrightstown, NJ/North Burlington).  After the Dolphins tied it at the 32:27 mark, the game remained a 1-1 tie until sophomore forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point) scored the game-winner with 3:48 remaining.

SCRANTON, PA – The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Scranton, 2-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-4.

The Royals jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 2:53 into the game.  The game stayed that way until the 88th minute when Scranton added an insurance goal to make it 2-0.  The Devils had their chances but could not convert allowing Scranton to pull out the victory.

DEVILS ROLL PAST BROOKLYN, 5-0

MADISON, NJ – Freshman forward Kyle Mecham (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug) scored two goals and added an assist to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 5-0 win over Brooklyn College on Monday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 3-3.

Mecham started things off just 7:10 into the game off a pass from freshman midfielder Tighe Keller (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon).  Two minutes later, Mecham assisted on a goal by sophomore forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point).  Then in the 23rd minute, Mecham again scored off a pass from Keller to put FDU up 3-0.  Sophomore defender Dave Rogers (Wrightstown, NJ/North Burlington) and junior midfielder Matt Martone (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) added insurance goals for the Devils.

Senior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made one save in net to pick up the win.

DEVILS DOWNED BY STEVENS, 5-0

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by fifth-ranked Stevens, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 2-3 on the season.

The Ducks started the scoring just 0:50 before the half and went into intermission leading 1-0.  Stevens made it 2-0 just 1:35 into the second half and 3-0 only four minutes after that.  The Ducks would tack on two insurance goals in the 69th minutes and 85h minute to round out the scoring.  Stevens held a 15-3 edge in shots, holding the Devils to no shots in the first half.

DEVILS DOWNED BY WILLIAM PATERSON, 4-2

WAYNE, NJ – Despite two goals from sophomore forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point), the College at Florham Devils suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of William Paterson on Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils are now 2-2.

The Pioneers scored the first four goals of the game, the last of which came at the 73:35 mark.  Malcolm tallied the first FDU goal just two minutes later on a penalty kick and then scored again in the 84th minute to cut the deficit to 4-2.  That was as close as the Devils would get though, as William Paterson would hang on for the victory.

Senior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) stopped one shot in net in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 15, 2007, at home against Stevens beginning at 1 pm.

GOLAN HELPS DEVILS TO 2-0 WIN OVER CITY TECH

MADISON, NJ – Freshman forward Jonathan Golan (Ocean, NJ/Ocean) tallied a goal and an assist to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 2-0 win over City Tech on Saturday morning in non-conference action.

With the win, the Devils improved to 2-1 on the season.

Golan started the scoring at the 23:59 mark of the first half and then assisted on a goal by freshman midfielder Kyle Mecham (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug) with a minute and a half left to go in the contest.

Senior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made five saves in net to pick up the win.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at William Paterson beginning at 4 pm.

DEVILS KNOCKED OFF BY RAMAPO, 4-1

MAHWAH, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Ramapo, 4-1, on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.  With the loss, the Devils are now 1-1.

The Roadrunners scored the first four goals of the game before freshman midfielder Matt Kinsley (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) scored off a pass from senior midfielder Mike Konopka (Branchville, NJ/High Point) in the 67th minute.

Senior goalie Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made two saves in goal in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 8, 2007, at home against City Tech beginning at 11 am.

DEVILS BEAT HUNTER IN SEASON OPENER, 2-1

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils got two header goals off corner kicks to outlast Hunter, 2-1, in their season opener on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils are now 1-0 on the season.

Junior midfielder Matt Martone (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) scored the first goal at the 8:13 mark off an assist by sophomore forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point).  Malcolm then scored the second goal at the 54:21 mark off a feed from sophomore midfielder Brian Hurley (Wall, NJ/Wall).  The Hawks cut the lead to 2-1 just two minutes later but the Devils held on for the win.

Senior goalie Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made four saves in net to pick up the win.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday September 5, 2007, at Ramapo beginning at 4 pm.

DEVILS PICKED TO FINISH SIXTH IN CONFERENCE POLL

ANNVILLE, PA – The College at Florham Devils were picked to finish sixth out of seven teams in the preseason Freedom Conference coaches poll.  Here is how the voting broke down:

1. DeSales (6) 43 pts., 2. Wilkes 34 pts., 3. Arcadia (1) 33 pts., 4. King’s 27 pts., 5. Manhattanville 25 pts., 6. FDU-Florham 20 pts., 7. Delaware Valley 14 pts.

DEVILS END SEASON WITH 1-0 LOSS TO KING’S

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The College at Florham Devils ended their season with a 1-0 loss to King’s on Sunday afternoon.  With the loss, the Devils final record stands at 5-11-1 (1-5-1 Freedom Conference).

It was a scoreless game until the 79th minute when Jordan Miller knocked home a penalty kick to give the Monarchs the win.

Freshman goalkeeper Steve O’Neill (Hopewell, NJ/Hopewell Valley) had one save in the loss.

STONE LEADS DEVILS PAST LINCOLN, 5-2

MADISON, NJ - Freshman midfielder Justin Stone (Marlboro, NJ/Marlboro) had a goal and two assists to lead the College at Florham Devils past Lincoln, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon in men’s soccer action.

With the win, the Devils improved to 5-10-1 on the season.

Sophomore midfielders Matt Martone (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) and Daniel Cartagna (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) each had a goal and an assist for the Devils.

Freshman forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point) and freshman defender Jim Grogg (Northern Burlington, NJ/Northern Burlington) also had goals for FDU.

Junior goalie Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) had two saves to pick up the win.

The Devils return to action on Sunday, October 29, at King’s beginning at 1 pm.

MALCOLM LEADS DEVILS TO FIRST FREEDOM WIN

DOYLESTOWN, PA – Freshman forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point) score three second half goals to lead the College at Florham Devils over Delaware Valley, 4-0, on Thursday afternoon.

With the win the Devils improved to 4-10-1 (1-4-1 Freedom Conference).

Senior forward Ali Bayram (Elmont, NY/Elmont) started the scoring in the 20th minute when he converted a pass from Malcolm.  Then Malcolm took over, scoring in the 64th, 68th and 77th minutes to give FDU the win.

Junior goalie Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made three saves to pick up the win.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 21, at home for Senior Day beginning at 1 pm.

DEVILS DOWNED BY SCRANTON, 2-0

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils dropped a 2-0 decision to Scranton in men’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon.  With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-10-1 (0-4-1 Freedom Conference) on the season.

The Devils were outshot by the Royals 9-4 and in shots on goal 6-2.  Junior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) had four saves in defeat.

The Devils return to action on Thursday, October 19, at Delaware Valley beginning at 3:30 pm

DEVILS LOSE TO SWARTHMORE, 2-1

SWARTHMORE, PA – The College at Florham lost to Swarthmore, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference men’s soccer action.  With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-9-1 on the season.

Swarthmore scored first, just 1:04 before halftime on a goal by Michael Bonesteel.  Swarthmore made it 2-0 5:58 after the intermission on a tally by Brandon Washington.

FDU cut it to 2-1 just under five minutes later when freshman forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point) scored his seventh goal of the season on a header.

Junior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made six saves in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 14, at home against Scranton beginning at 1 pm.

DEVILS FALL TO WILKES, 2-1

MADISON, NJ – Wilkes jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and never looked back as they defeated the College at Florham Devils, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.  With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-8-1 (0-3-1 Freedom Conference).

Junior midfielder Anthony Perchiacco (Toms River, NJ/Toms River) scored the lone Devils goal.  Junior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made 10 saves in the loss.

The D evils return to action on Wednesday, October 11, at Swarthmore beginning at 7 pm.

DEVILS SHUTOUT, 4-0

CHESTERTOWN, MD – The College at Florham Devils were shutout, 4-0, at Washington College (MD) in men’s soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.  With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-7-1.

The Devils were outshot 15-11 but had an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal.

Junior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made three saves in defeat.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 7, at home against Wilkes beginning at 1 pm.

MALCOLM’S FOUR GOALS LEAD DEVILS PAST CITY TECH, 8-0

MADISON, NJ - Freshman forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point) scored four goals to lead the College at Florham Devils over City Tech, 8-0, in men’s soccer action on Monday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 3-6-1.

Freshman forward Steve O’Neill (Hopewell, NJ/Hopewell Valley) had two goals, freshman midfielder Justin Stone (Marlboro, NJ/Marlboro) had a goal and an assist and senior forward Ali Bayram (Elmont, NY/Elmont) had two assists.

Junior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made one save in net for the win.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, October 4, at Washington College beginning at 4:00 pm.

DEVILS AND WARRIORS TIE, 2-2 (2OT)

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Despite jumping out to a 2-0 lead, the College at Florham Devils came away with a 2-2 tie (2OT) against Lycoming on Saturday afternoon in men’s soccer action.

With the tie, the Devils record now stands at 2-6-1 (0-2-1 Freedom Conference)

Senior forward Ali Bayram (Elmont, NY/Elmont) and freshman forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point) scored the two Devils goals.  FDU held the 2-0 lead before Lycoming scored two goals in the final 8:47 to force overtime and the tie.

Junior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made five saves in goal.

The Devils return to action on Monday, October 2, at home against City Tech beginning at 3:30 pm.

STURM LEADS DESALES PAST FDU, 4-2

MADISON, NJ - Senior forward Randy Sturm (North Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) scored three goals and added an assist as DeSales knocked off the College at Florham Devils, 4-2, on Wednesday afternoon in men’s soccer action.

With the win, DeSales improved to 5-2-1 (2-0 Freedom Conference) while FDU dropped to 2-6 (0-2 Freedom Conference).

The Devils jumped out a to a 2-0 lead on goals by senior forward Ali Bayram (Elmont, NY/Elmont) and freshman forward Alex Malcolm (Lafayette, NJ/High Point) before Sturm cut the lead to 2-1 with 2:15 left in the first half.

The Bulldogs then tied the game at 2-2 at the 55:55 mark on a goal by sophomore defender Tim Hall (Montclair, VA/Bishop Ireton).

Sturm scored the game-winner with 6:18 left to play and added another with 0:04 seconds remaining to give the Bulldogs the come-from-behind win.

Junior goalkeeper Rusty Riedmiller (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) picked up the win in net, making nine saves.  Junior Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) took the loss, stopping five shots.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 30, at Lycoming beginning at noon.

DEVILS DOWNED BY ONEONTA STATE, 3-1

MADISON, NJ - Junior forward Keith Manscuk scored two goals to lead Oneonta State to a 3-1 victory over the College at Florham Devils on Saturday afternoon in men’s soccer action.

The loss dropped the Devils to 2-5.

FDU was outshot 14-6 including 10-3 in shots on goal.  The lone bright spot for the Devils was a goal by freshman midfielder Jonathan Jerome (Randolph, NJ/Randolph).

Junior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made seven saves in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, September 27, at home against DeSales beginning at 3:30 pm.

DEVILS LOSE TO DREW, 6-0

MADISON, NJ – Greg Zizik had two goals and an assist as Drew cruised past the College at Florham Devils, 6-0, on Tuesday afternoon.  The Devils record dropped to 2-4 (0-1 Freedom Conference).

The Rangers outshot the Devils 21-6 including 10-3 in shots on goal.  Drew also had eight corner kicks to the Devils’ two.  Junior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) made four saves in defeat.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 23, at home against Oneonta State beginning at 1 pm.

DEVILS DROPPED BY STEVENS, 7-1

HOBOKEN, NJ – Stevens scored five goals in the second half to build on a 2-0 halftime lead as they went on to defeat the College at Florham Devils, 7-1, on Saturday afternoon.  The loss dropped the Devils record to 2-3 on the season.

Sophomore forward Daniel Cardagna (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) scored the Devils lone goal in the game in the 62nd minute.  Freshman goalkeeper Steve O’Neill (Hopewell, NJ/Hopewell Valley) came on in relief and made four saves.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, September 19, at Drew beginning at 5 pm.

DEVILS DOWN CSI IN CONSOLATION GAME, 4-1

NEWARK,  NJ - Rutgers-Newark and Farmingdale State share the 2006 Scarlet Raider Soccer Classic title after battling to a 2-2 tie following two overtimes.

Tournament most outstanding player Andrew Whilby (St. Albans, NY/Wolmers Boys School) scored for the Rams (1-1-1) on a crossing pass into the box from junior midfielder Bryan Spencer (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) just 49 seconds into the contest.

Walk-on freshman Arman Zamanian  (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Indian Hills HS) headed in a lob by freshman forward Luis Valle (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) with 2:42 left in the opening period to knot the contest.

Sophomore goalkeeper Matthew Johnson (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) made five saves for the Raiders ( 1-2-1) while sophomore Anthony Gubitosi  (Massapequa, NJ/Massapequa) posted four saves for Farmingdale.  Each team launched a dozen shots.

In the consolation match, sophomore midfielder Daniel Cardagna  (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) had two goals and two assists to lead FDU-Florham to a 4-1 win over the College of Staten Island.

Junior midfielder Adeyinka Olowu (Nigeria/Port Richmond) cut into a 2-0 halftime lead by the Devils buy scoring in the 56th minute.  But, Cardagna booted in a restart in the 73rd minute before assisting on a Matt Martone (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) header just inside the final 10 minutes.

Staten Island goalkeeper Ronald Btesh (Buenos Aires, Argentina) was superlative, stopping 11 shots as FDU amassed a 32-7 advantage in shots.

DEVILS LOSE HEARTBREAKER TO RUTGERS-NEWARK, 2-1

NEWARK, NJ - Rutgers-Newark scored twice in the final five minutes to topple FDU-Florham, 2-1, in the opening match of the Scarlet Raider Soccer Classic on Alumni Field.

The Scarlet Raiders advance to tomorrow’s championship match against Farmingdale State, a 5-4 overtime winner over The College of Staten Island.

Trailing 1-0 with 4:37 remaining, sophomore forward Haris Krsic (Wallington, NJ/Lodi HS) put a hard shot off Devil junior goalkeeper Jared Drucker (Morristown, NJ/Randolph) which bounced off the left post and back to Krsic.  With Drucker on the turf, Krsic knotted the score by going inside the far post.

Freshman walk-on Arman Zamanian (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Indian Hills), who was playing in his first game, took a breakaway pass from freshman Elliott Osafo (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) and whistled a shot past a diving Drucker with just 2:13 left for the game-winner.

Sophomore forward Daniel Cardagna (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) took a through pass from sophomore midfielder Matt Martone (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) about 40 yards out on the right side, raced past a Raider defender and beat sophomore goalie Matthew Johnson (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) to the near post to give FDU (1-2) the lead in the 62nd minute.

Drucker chalked up seven saves while Johnson finished with three first-half stops.  Rutgers-Newark (1-2) forged a 14-8 edge in shots.

In the other opening match,  Farmingdale State wasted a 4-1 lead in the final 10 minutes, and then won on a breakaway goal by junior forward Andrew Whilby (Saint Albans,  NY/Wolmers Boys School) in the seventh minute of overtime.  It was Whilby’s third goal of the day after his back-to-back goals gave Farmingdale a 4-1 lead in the 80th minute.

But junior midfielder Adeyinka Olowu (Nigeria/Port Richmond) capped his own hat trick for the Dolphins with back-to-back goals in the final six minutes to knot the score at 4-4.   His final goal came with just 34 seconds left.

CSI and FDU-Florham play the men’s consolation match at noon before Rutgers-Newark and Farmingdale clash in the  5 o’clock title game.

DEVILS DOWNED BY RAMAPO, 1-0

MADISON, NJ - Junior midfielder Arturo Moreria (Lodi, NJ/Lodi) converted a pass from junior forward Justin Stanley (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren Regional) right before halftime to give Ramapo a 1-0 lead that they wouldn’t relinquish as the Roadrunners knocked off the College at Florham Devils, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon in men’s soccer action.

The Devils’ best chance at scoring came when junior midfielder Anthony Perchiacco (Toms River, NJ/Toms River) had a penalty kick with 18:00 left in regulation but he was stone by senior goalkeeper Pat Jagodzinski (Lebanon, NJ/Immaculata).
