PETRACCO GETS 300TH CAREER WIN AS DEVILS BEAT RAMAPO, 3-1

MADISON, NJ – Head Coach Ann Petracco earned the 300th win of her coaching career as her College at Florham Devils knocked off Ramapo, 3-1, in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.

With the win, the Devils improved to 5-6 on the season.

The Devils got on the board first, just 2:18 into the game, when junior forward Alex DeVito (Wayside, NJ/Ocean Twp.) found the back of the cage.  The Roadrunners came right back though and tied it at 1-1 just two minutes later.  The score stayed that way until DeVito found senior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) for a goal with 7:34 left in the game.  DeVito made it 3-1 with 1:07 to go to round out the scoring at 3-1.

Senior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) made four saves in goal to pick up the win.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 11, 2008, at Eastern beginning at 11 am.

DEVILS DROP CONFERENCE OPENER, 2-0, TO WILKES

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Wilkes, 2-0, in their Freedom Conference opener on Thursday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 4-6 (0-1 Freedom) while the Colonels improved to 10-0 (2-0 Freedom).

Wilkes got on the board with 5:06 left to play in the first half after controlling the ball most of the half.  The Colonels then tacked on an insurance goal to make it 2-0 with 0:41 left in the game.  The Devils had a few chances to tie the game before Wilkes added their second goal.  Wilkes held a 14-4 advantage in shots and an 8-5 edge in penalty corners.

Senior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) made eight saves in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at home against Ramapo beginning at 7 pm.

DEVILS SNAP FIVE-GAME SKID WITH 2-1 (STROKES) WIN OVER KENYON

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils snapped their five-game losing streak with a 2-1 (strokes) win over Kenyon in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.  The Devils converted two shots in the shootout to one for the Ladies.

With the win, the Devils improved to 4-5.

FDU got on the board first, when sophomore forward Laura Core (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview) knocked in a penalty shot at the 25:17 mark.  Kenyon came back to tie it at 1-1 with 17:52 left in regulation off a penalty corner.  Each team had numerous chances to score in the remainder of regulation and in both overtime sessions but neither could find the cage.  Senior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) put the Devils up 1-0 in the shootout and sophomore defender Jessica Lewis (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) gave the Devils a 2-0 advantage.  Kenyon got one back on their fourth attempt but junior goalkeeper Courtney Bordner (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) came back to make the stop on the fifth attempt for the win.  Bordner made four saves in the shootout.

Senior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) played 100:00 and made six saves in net.

The Devils return to action on Thursday, October 2, 2008, with their Freedom Conference opener at Wilkes beginning at 4 pm.

FABIAN’S TWO GOALS NOT ENOUGH AS DEVILS FALL TO STEVENS IN OVERTIME, 3-2

HOBOKEN, NJ – Senior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) scored two goals, the second of which tied the game at 2-2 with 2:54 left in regulation, but it wasn’t enough as the College at Florham Devils were defeated by Stevens in overtime by a score of 3-2 in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-5.

The Ducks got on the board first with a goal at the 23:14 mark and then made it 2-0 with just 2:01 gone by in the second half.  Fabian scored her first goal to cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 53:34 mark before tying it at 2-2 with 2:54 remaining.  Stevens netted the game-winner 6:44 into the overtime, sending the Devils to their fifth straight defeat.

Senior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) made 11 saves in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Friday, September 26, 2008, with their Freedom Conference opener at home against Alvernia beginning at 6 pm.

DEVILS KNOCKED OFF BY #2 TCNJ, 2-0

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were beaten by #2 TCNJ, 2-0, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-4.

The Lions got on the board at the 14:05 mark to take a 1-0 lead but the FDU defense tightened and the score remained unchanged heading into halftime.  TCNJ made it 2-0 with 9:21 gone by in the second half but the Devils had chances to score, particularly late in the game, however they were unable to convert and TCNJ earned the win.

DEVILS FALL TO WILLIAM PATERSON, 5-1

WAYNE, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by William Paterson, 5-1, in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-3.

The Pioneers came out strong to start the first half, grabbing a 1-0 lead just 4:08 into the game before taking a 2-0 advantage ten minutes after that.  The Devils cut it to 2-1 at the 28:45 mark when sophomore forward Laura Core (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview) converted a penalty shot.  The score would stay that way until the middle of the second half when William Paterson scored two goals in under a minute to take a 4-1 lead.  The Pioneers would add another goal with 6:45 left in the contest.

EIGHT UNANSWERED GOALS LEADS LEBANON VALLEY PAST FDU, 8-1

ANNVILLE, PA – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by #5 Lebanon Valley, 8-1, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-2.

The Devils got on the board first at the 7:46 mark on a goal by senior midfielder Karlee Teeling (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) but it was all down hill from there as Lebanon Valley scored eight straight goals, six in the second half, to grab the win.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at William Paterson beginning at 7 pm.

BISCI’S TWO GOALS LEAD MORAVIAN TO 2-1 OVERTIME WIN OVER FDU

MADISON, NJ – Junior forward Julie Bisci (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) scored two goals, including the game-winner with 1:42 left in overtime, to give Moravian a 2-1 (OT) win over the College at Florham Devils on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-1.

FDU started the scoring just 1:24 into the game as junior forward Alex DeVito (Wayside, NJ/Ocean Twp.) converted a feed from senior forward Alyssa Worbetz (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.  Moravian did not register a shot until the middle of the second half but Bisci scored tied the game at 1-1 at the 55:24 mark.  It stayed tied throughout the rest of regulation and most of the overtime before the Greyhounds got on three-on-one break and Bisci knocked it in the back of the cage off a pass from junior forward Kayla Carson (Leesport, PA/Wyomissing).

Senior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) made four saves in net for the Devils.

CORE’S PENALTY SHOT IN OVERTIME GIVES DEVILS 2-1 WIN OVER KEAN

MADISON, NJ – Sophomore forward Laura Core (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview) came off the bench to knock home a penalty shot with 2:07 left in overtime to give the College at Florham Devils a 2-1 non-conference victory over Kean on Wednesday evening.

With the win, the Devils improved to 3-0.

The Devils got on the board first, when junior defender Stephanie Cruz (Neshanic Station, NJ/Somerville) converted a penalty corner to put the Devils up 1-0 with 16:00 gone by in the first half.  Kean came back to tie the game at 1-1 at the 25:23 mark and the game remained that way until the overtime.  With the two teams playing 7-on-7 it looked like the game would end up a tie but the Devils earned a penalty shot and Core came in off the bench to convert the shot in her first action of the night.

DEVILS KNOCK OFF WITTENBERG, 3-1

OWINGS MILLS, MD – The College at Florham Devils knocked off Wittenberg, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon in the Black Eyed Susan Tournament at Stevenson University to finish the tournament undefeated while placing third.

With the win, the Devils improved to 2-0.

FDU jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 14:16 mark when senior midfielder Karlee Teeling (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) scored on a pass from senior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk).  Teeling then helped the Devils make it 2-0 with 4:16 left in the half when she assisted on a goal from junior midfielder Jackie Gale (New Vernon, NJ/Madison).  Wittenberg cut the lead to 2-1 with 14:28 gone by in the second half but Fabian gave the Devils an insurance goal to make it 3-1 with 11:26 left to play in the game.

FABIAN’S THREE GOALS LEADS DEVILS TO SEASON OPENING WIN OVER GOUCHER, 7-2

OWINGS MILLS, MD – Senior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) notched three goals to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 7-2 victory over Goucher in the season opener for both teams at the Black Eyed Susan Tournament.

With the win, the Devils improved to 1-0.

The Devils got the scoring started just 2:56 into the game when senior midfielder Karlee Teeling (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) converted a feed from Fabian.  Fabian made it 2-0 just four minutes later before junior forward Alex DeVito (Wayside, NJ/Ocean Twp.) made it 3-0 at the 11:12 mark.  That was all the scoring that would take place in the first half but Goucher opened the second half strong, scoring back-to-back goals to cut the FDU lead to 3-2 with 19:50 left in the game.  That’s as close as it would get though, as the Devils responded by scoring four goals in the next 13:37 to seal the win.  Fabian scored two goals in the spurt while senior forward Alyssa Worbetz (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) and junior midfielder Jackie Gale (New Vernon, NJ/Madison) each had one goal.  FDU held Goucher to just three shots on the game.

Senior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) picked up the win and did not allow a goal in her 54:50 of action.

The Devils return to action on Sunday, August 31, 2008, against a team to be announced at the Black Eyed Susan Tournament at a time to be announced.

DEVILS PICKED TO FINISH THIRD IN PRESEASON POLL

ANNVILLE, PA – The College at Florham Devils were picked to finish third in the preseason Freedom Conference Coaches Poll on Tuesday afternoon.  The full results are as follows:

1.  King’s 64 pts. (4), 2.  Eastern 62 pts. (3), 3.  FDU-Florham 58 pts. (2), 4.  Alvernia 46 pts., 5.  Delaware Valley 39 pts., 6.  Wilkes 35 pts., 7.  Misericordia 33 pts., 8.  DeSales 28 pts., 9.  Manhattanville 27 pts.

The Devils open their season on Saturday, August 20, 2008, against Goucher at the Villa Julie Tournament beginning at 2 pm.

FABIAN, SANFILIPPO NAMED TO SOUTH ATLANTIC TEAM

MADISON, NJ – Junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) and junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) were named Second Team All-South Atlantic on Tuesday morning.

Fabian leads the team in goals (20) and points (44) which ranks her third in each category in the conference.  She also leads the conference with nine game-winning goals.

SanFilippo has 114 saves and a 1.27 goals against average on the season.  She leads the conference in goals against average, is tied for fourth in shutouts and is sixth in saves.

DEVILS FALL TO MONTCLAIR STATE, 2-1, IN ECAC FINALS

MONTCLAIR, NJ – The seventh-seeded College at Florham Devils were defeated by fourth-seeded Montclair State, 2-1, in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament Finals on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils end their season with a record of 16-8.

After a scoreless first half, Montclair got on the board first with a goal at the 42:08 mark.  The Red Hawks made it 2-0 with 5:56 left in the game but the Devils came right back and cut it to 2-1 when sophomore forward Christy Barbetto (Hammonton, NJ/St. Joseph’s Hammonton) converted a pass from junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) at the 66:06 mark.  FDU could not put in the tying goal in the last 3:54 though and Montclair State took home the crown.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) made four saves in the defeat.  The game was virtually even with each team recording nine shots; however the Devils did hold a 10-4 lead in penalty corners.

DEVILS BEAT STEVENS, 2-1, ADVANCE TO ECAC FINALS

HOBOKEN, NJ – The seventh-seeded College at Florham Devils knocked off sixth-seeded Stevens, 2-1, in the Semifinals of the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament on Saturday afternoon.  The win propels the Devils into the finals on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, FDU improved to 16-7 on the season and set the single-season record for wins.  The 16 wins eclipsed the previous record of 15 set by the 1986 team.

The Devils got on the board first at the 28:07 mark when senior midfielder Lindsey Specht (Jackson, NJ/Jackson) converted a pass from senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook).  FDU then increased its lead to 2-0 just 10 minutes into the second half when junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) knocked in a pass from sophomore midfielder Jackie Gale (New Vernon, NJ/Madison).  The Ducks cut the lead to 2-1 at the 61:30 mark but the Devils were able to run the remaining 8:30 off the clock to advance to the finals.

DEVILS UPSET NAZARETH, 3-2 (OT)

ROCHESTER, NY – The seventh-seeded College at Florham Devils knocked off second-seeded Nazareth, 3-2 (OT), in the Quarterfinals of the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.  Junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) scored the game-winner 7:41 into the overtime.

With the win, the Devils improved to 15-7 and tied the 1986 team for most wins in a season.

The Devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) just 4:30 into the game.  FDU held the 1-0 lead going into halftime but Nazareth tied the game at 1-1 four minutes into the second half.  The Devils got their lead back at the 48:52 mark when Fabian scored her first goal of the game off a feed from sophomore midfielder Jackie Gale (New Vernon, NJ/Madison).  Nazareth came right back just three minutes later to tie the game at 2-2 to send it to overtime.  Each team had chances down the stretch to pull out the win but could not convert.  The Devils lined up for a penalty corner at the 77:41 mark and Fabian provided the heroics when she converted on passes from Birmingham and senior defender Jess Van Meter (Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland).

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) made six saves in the win.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, November 10, 2007, against sixth-seeded Stevens in the Semifinals of the ECAC Metro Region Tournament at a site and time to be determined.  Stevens knocked off third-seeded Washington & Jefferson to advance.

DEVILS GET SEVENTH SEED IN ECAC TOURNAMENT

CENTERVILLE, MA – The College at Florham Devils were chosen as the seventh seed in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament and will travel to play second-seeded Nazareth on Wednesday afternoon at a time to be announced.

The seeding went as follows: #1 William Paterson, #2 Nazareth, #3 Washington & Jefferson, #4 Montclair State, #5 Drew, #6 Stevens, #7 FDU-Florham, #8 Catholic.

DEVILS FALL SHORT TO KING’S IN FREEDOM FINALS, 2-0

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by King’s, 2-0, in the Freedom Conference Field Hockey Tournament Finals on Saturday afternoon.  The Monarchs scored two second half goals to earn the victory and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 14-7.

After a scoreless first half, King’s got on the board just 0:51 into the second stanza on a goal by senior forward Debbie Wychock (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Coughlin).  The Monarchs then got an insurance goal at the 62:42 mark on a goal by senior forward Megan Farrell (Clarks Summit, PA/Lackawanna Trail).  The Devils actually held a 10-6 edge in shots and a 12-4 edge in penalty corners but could not find the back of the goal.

SIX DEVILS NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

ANNVILLE, PA - Senior defender Kaitlyn Dudzinski (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South), junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk), junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) and sophomore midfielder Jackie Gale (New Vernon, NJ/Madison) were all named First Team All-Freedom Conference on Thursday morning.

Senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) was named to the Second Team while Head Coach Ann Petracco was named Freedom Conference Coach of the Year.

Dudzinski is the leader of the FDU defense that allowed only 23 goals all season, good for a 1.13 goals against average which leads the Freedom Conference.

Fabian leads the team in goals (17) and points (37) which ranks her third in each category in the conference.  She also leads the conference with eight game winning goals.

SanFilippo has 96 saves and a 1.05 goals against average on the season.  She leads the conference in goals against average, is tied for fourth in shutouts and is sixth in saves.

Gale is the best two-way player on the Devils, often providing the spark which has led the Devils to the Conference Finals.  On the season, she has one goal and five assists for seven points.

Birmingham leads the team with eight assists while ranking second in goals (9) and points (26).  In the conference, she ranks fourth in assists, is tied for eighth in goals and is tied for eighth in points.

Petracco has led the Devils to back-to-back Freedom Conference Tournament berths for the first time since the 1983 and 1984 seasons.  FDU’s 14-6 record and 0.70 winning percentage is second all-time in school history.

DEVILS BLANK WILKES, 2-0, TO ADVANCE IN FREEDOM TOURNAMENT

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils knocked off Wilkes, 2-0, on Wednesday evening in the Semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament.  The second seeded Devils will advance to the Championship game to play top-seeded King’s.

With the win, the Devils improved to 14-6.

FDU started the scoring just 4:46 into the game when sophomore forward Christy Barbetto (Hammonton, NJ/St. Joseph’s Hammonton) knocked home a pass from senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook).  The Devils then made it 2-0 in the 29th minute when senior defender Kaitlyn Dudzinski (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South) converted a penalty shot.  Wilkes controlled the ball in FDU’s half for the majority of the second half but the stout Devils defense would not allow a goal.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) made three saves and sophomore Courtney Bordner (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) came on to make a huge save on a Colonels penalty shot.

BIRMINGHAM, FABIAN LEAD DEVILS OVER ALBRIGHT, 6-1

MADISON, NJ – Senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) scored three goals and junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) added two goals to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 6-1 win over Albright in non-conference action on Senior Day on Monday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 13-6 on the season.

Birmingham started the scoring for FDU at the 18:31 mark and then Fabian made it 2-0 ten minutes later.  Fabian put FDU ahead, 3-0, at the 32:39 mark and Birmingham upped it to 4-0 just 0:21 later.  FDU got a goal from Birmingham and freshman forward Laura Core (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) in the second half to put the game completely out of reach.

DEVILS EDGED OUT BY KING’S, 1-0

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The College at Florham Devils were defeated by King’s, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon in Freedom Conference action.  The Devils will be the second seed in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament while King’s will be the top seed.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 12-6 (5-1 Freedom) and had their seven game winning streak snapped.  FDU will play third seeded Wilkes in the Semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament.

King’s scored the lone goal at the 48:05 mark of the second half on a two-on-one break.  The Devils had a few opportunities to tie the game but the Monarchs held on for the victory.  King’s held a 15-5 edge in shots and a 9-7 edge in corners.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) had 12 saves in the loss.

FABIAN LEADS DEVILS TO WIN OVER DELAWARE VALLEY, 3-1

MADISON, NJ – Junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) scored two goals to lead the College at Florham Devils to their seventh straight victory, 3-1, over Delaware Valley in Freedom Conference action on Tuesday evening.

With the win, the Devils improved to 12-5 (5-0 Freedom) and have locked up at least one home game in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament.  This is the first time since the 1983 and 1984 seasons that FDU has made the conference tournament in back-to-back years.

Fabian started the scoring 13:32 into the game when she scored off a pass from freshman midfielder Ellen Siracuse (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West).  Fabian then made it 2-0 at the 22:24 mark when she converted a feed from sophomore midfielder Jackie Gale (New Vernon, NJ/Madison).  The Devils then made it 3-0 on a goal by senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) with 19:48 left to play.  Sophomore forward Christy Barbetto (Hammonton, NJ/St. Joseph’s Hammonton) had the assist on the play.  The Aggies cut it to 3-1 at the 63:02 mark but could not get any closer.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) had four saves and did not allow a goal.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at King’s beginning at 1 pm.  The winner of the game will be the top seed and have home field advantage in the Freedom Conference Tournament.

FABIAN, BIRMINGHAM LIFT DEVILS TO 4-0 WIN OVER DESALES

MADISON, NJ – Junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) scored two goals and senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) added a goal and an assist to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 4-0 win over DeSales in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 11-5 (4-0 Freedom) and have now won six consecutive games.

Fabian started the scoring off a pass from Birmingham just 4:43 into the game to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.  Junior defender Karlee Teeling (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) made it 2-0 at the 10:06 mark and Birmingham converted a feed from senior defender Jess Van Meter (Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland) to give FDU a 3-0 lead heading into intermission.  Fabian added a goal at the 43:37 mark to complete the scoring.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) started and made three saves in the win.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at home against Delaware Valley beginning at 7 pm.

DEVILS WIN 5TH STRAIGHT, 3-0 OVER ARCADIA

GLENSIDE, PA – The College at Florham Devils knocked off Arcadia, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon in Freedom Conference action.  The win was the fifth straight for FDU.

With the win, the Devils are now 10-5 (3-0 Freedom).

The Devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 21:38 mark when freshman midfielder Ellen Siracuse (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West) converted a pass from sophomore midfielder Jackie Gale (New Vernon, NJ/Madison).  The Devils then increased their lead to 2-0 in the 52nd minute when junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) scored off a pass from senior midfielder Lindsey Specht (Jackson, NJ/Jackson).  FDU got an insurance goal 10 minutes later when sophomore forward Alex DeVito (Wayside, NJ/Ocean Twp.) found the back of the cage off a feed from Fabian.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) started in goal and picked up the win.

SIRACUSE SCORES WITH 0:27 LEFT TO LIFT DEVILS PAST MANHATTANVILLE, 3-2

PURCHASE, NY – Freshman midfielder Ellen Siracuse (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West) scored with 0:27 remaining in regulation to break a 2-2 tie and give the College at Florham Devils a 3-2 win over Manhattanville on Monday evening in a game that was resumed from Thursday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 9-5 (2-0 Freedom).

The Devils jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) and senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) with 14:20 left in the second half.  The Valiants came right back though, cutting it to 2-1 just under a minute later and then tying the game with 3:07 left to play.  After some back-and-forth action, Siracuse delivered the late heroics to give FDU the win.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) made three saves in the win.

DEVILS DOWN WILKES, 1-0

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils defeated Wilkes, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference action.

With the win, the Devils improved to 8-5 (1-0 Freedom).

Senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) scored the lone goal at the 17:52 mark off a feed from sophomore midfielder Jackie Gale (New Vernon, NJ/Madison).  The Devils held a 27-10 advantage in shots over the Colonels.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) pitched a shutout, making seven saves.

The Devils return to action on Monday, October 15, 2007, at Manhattanville beginning at 7 pm.  This game was started on Thursday afternoon but stopped due to inclement weather.  It will pick back up with 5:00 to go in the first half.

DEVILS DOWN RAMAPO, 2-1

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils defeated Ramapo, 2-1, in non-conference action on Friday evening.

With the win, the Devils improved to 7-5.

After a scoreless first half, FDU got on the board first on a goal by senior defender Kaitlyn Dudzinski (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South) at the 39:28 mark.  Ramapo came back to tie on goal just six minutes later and it stayed that way until junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwarlk) scored the game-winner for the Devils with five minutes to play in regulation.

FABIAN LEADS DEVILS TO 6-0 WIN OVER MARYWOOD

MADISON, NJ – Junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) scored two goals to lead the College at Florham Devils past Marywood, 6-0, on Monday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the win, the Devils improved to 6-5.

Fabian started the scoring at the 5:33 mark when she converted a pass from senior midfielder Lindsay Specht (Jackson, NJ/Jackson) to give FDU a 1-0 lead.  Fabian made it 2-0 in the 29th minute before freshman forward Laura Core (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional), senior forward Colleen Weimer (Atlantic Highlands, NJ/Henry Hudson) and junior midfielder Karlee Teeling (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) all scored in the last 4:00 of the first half to give FDU a 5-0 lead at intermission.  The Devils tacked on another goal by sophomore forward Christy Barbetto (Hammonton, NJ/St. Joseph’s Hammonton) in the second half to end the scoring.

DEVILS LOSE OVERTIME THRILLER TO STEVENS, 1-0

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Stevens, 1-0 (OT), on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 5-5 on the season.

Each team had a few shots in regulation to take the lead but could not convert.  With 2:45 left in the first overtime, the Ducks got the game-winner from junior midfielder Allison Shields (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac).

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) made three saves in the loss.

DEVILS WIN CLOSE ONE OVER PHILADELPHIA BIBLICAL, 1-0

LANGHORNE, PA – The College at Florham Devils knocked off Philadelphia Biblical, 1-0, on Tuesday evening in non-conference action.

With the win, the Devils improved to 5-4.

After a scoreless first half, freshman midfielder Ellen Siracuse (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West) converted a pass from senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) for the game-winner at the 55:24 mark.  FDU held a 13-0 advantage in shots and a 25-0 advantage in penalty corners.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 29, at home against Stevens for homecoming beginning at 5 pm.

DEVILS FALL TO #3 TCNJ, 4-1

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils lost a hard fought battle to third-ranked The College of New Jersey, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 4-4 on the year.

FDU came out strong early and took a 1-0 lead at the 19:39 mark on a goal by senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook).  Birmingham converted a pass from senior defender Jess Van Meter (Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland).  The Lions came back five minutes later and tied the game at 1-1 before tacking on another goal five minutes before halftime to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.  FDU hung tight in the beginning stages of the second half before TCNJ scored two goals in a six minute span late in the game to break it open.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) allowed three goals and made 14 saves in the loss.

FABIAN, GALE LEAD DEVILS TO 3-2 WIN OVER WILLIAM PATERSON

MADISON, NJ – Junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) and sophomore midfielder Jackie Gale (New Vernon, NJ/Madison) each had a goal and an assist to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 3-2 win over William Paterson on Wednesday evening.

With the win, the Devils improved to 4-3.

After a scoreless first half, Gale got FDU on the board off a penalty corner but the Pioneers tied the game, 1-1, five minutes later.  It stayed that way until the 60:04 mark when Fabian converted a pass from Gale to put the Devils ahead, 2-1.  Six minutes later, Fabian found senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) to give the Devils a 3-1 lead.  William Paterson cut it to 3-2 just under a minute later but that was as close as they got as FDU held on for the win.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) stopped nine shots in net to pick up the win.

SANFILIPPO NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE DEFENDER OF THE WEEK

ANNVILLE, PA - Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) was named Freedom Conference Defender of the Week on Monday afternoon, after leading the Devils to a 1-1 week.

On Tuesday, she played the first 45:01 of a 5-1 home win against Gwynedd-Mercy.  Against the Griffins, she made one save and did not allow a goal.  Then on Saturday, she made 15 saves and played brilliantly in a 1-0 loss to fifth-ranked Lebanon Valley.

On the season, she is 2-2 with 34 saves and a 1.20 goals against average.

DEVILS FALL TO LEBANON VALLEY, 1-0

MADISON, NJ – The College at Florham Devils fell to seventh-ranked Lebanon Valley, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-3.

The Flying Dutchmen started the scoring at the 26:49 mark and kept the pressure on until the final five minutes of the game.  In those five minutes, FDU held the ball in Lebanon Valley territory the entire time and had some good chances to tie the game but came up just short and the Dutchmen hold on for the win.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) had 15 saves and played brilliantly in goal.

FABIAN, BARBETTO, BIRMINGHAM LEAD DEVILS PAST GWYNEDD-MERCY, 5-1

MADISON, NJ – Junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) had three goals, sophomore forward Christy Barbetto (Hammonton, NJ/St. Joseph’s Hammonton) scored two goals and senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) added three assists to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 5-1 win over Gwynedd-Mercy on Tuesday evening.

With the win, the Devils improved to 3-2 on the year.

Barbetto started things off just 0:57 into the game when she scored off a pass from Birmingham.  At the 10:15 mark, Fabian converted a pass from sophomore midfielder Jackie Gale (New Vernon, NJ/Madison) to make it 2-0.  Barbetto struck again, this time from senior midfielder Lindsey Specht (Jackson, NJ/Jackson), with 0:48 left before halftime to give the Devils a 3-0 lead going into the break.

Fabian made it 4-0 off a feed from Birmingham at the 39:47 mark and the two struck again with 12:03 left to play to put FDU ahead 5-0.  The Griffins finally got on the board with 7:50 left in the game to cut it to 5-1.

DEVILS NOTCH 3-1 WIN OVER MORAVIAN

BETHLEHEM, PA – Senior midfielder Jess Van Meter (Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland) picked up a goal and an assist to help the College at Florham Devils to a 3-1 win over Moravian on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the win, the Devils evened their record at 2-2.

The Devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Van Meter at the 33:46 mark of the first half.  Moravian tied it at 1-1 just two minutes into the second half and the scored stayed that way until junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) found the back of the cage in the 45th minute thanks to a pass from senior forward Krystle Birmingham (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook).  FDU added an insurance goal by senior defender Kaitlyn Dudzinski (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South) on a feed from Van Meter with two minutes left to play.

UNION, NJ – Kean University scored with 3:18 left in regulation to knock off the College at Florham Devils, 2-1, on Wednesday evening in non-conference action.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 1-2.

Kean got on the board first at the 47:34 mark but FDU stormed back two minutes later to tie the game, 1-1, on a goal by senior defender Kaitlyn Dudzinski (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South).  Each team had a few opportunities to take a lead before the Cougars scored the game-winner.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) made six saves in net in the loss.

DEVILS FALL TO JOHNS HOPKINS, 5-1

OWINGS MILLS, MD – The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon in the Black Eyed Susan Tournament at Villa Julie College.

With the loss, the Devils are now 1-1 on the season.

Hopkins came out and scored the first five goals of the game before sophomore forward Christy Barbetto (Hammonton, NJ/St. Joseph’s Hammonton) converted a pass from junior forward Christina Fabian (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk).

Junior goalkeeper Lauren Wright (Millville, DE/Worcester Prep) made five saves and allowed one goal in relief.
