A 1996 FDU-Madison graduate, Andy Paulus broke into the coaching ranks in 1998 with the Devils and enters his fifth season as head coach.

Paulus has led the Devils to the Freedom Conference Tournament in three of his first four seasons at the helm, with the 2006 team winning the Freedom Conference Regular Season.

The former star outfielder owned several offensive records for FDU at the time of his graduation. One of the most feared hitters in the conference in the early 1990’s, Paulus was walked 75 times in his career, the second most walks in a career at FDU. He is fourth all-time in career runs scored with 120 and his 11 career triples ties him for fourth all-time. He also ranks fifth all-time in caeer hits with 153 and third all-time in career home runs with 12.

In 1996, he racked up 35 walks, still the single-season record at FDU and he is tied for third on the single-season home run list with six.

Paulus was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Most Valuable Player in 1996. He was also tabbed for the All-Middle Atlantic Region squad and was an NJCBA all-star in 1996 and All-MAC in 1995. Paulus was key to the Devils success, as they compiled a 91-50-2 mark during his career. He helped FDU to a pair of ECAC championships, the MAC Northeast crown, the MAC tournament title and an NCAA appearance.

He is also a private instructor at the All-Star Baseball Academy in Morris County where he has tutored hundreds of top players from around the area.

Paulus has previous professional playing experience with the New Jersey Jackals and now resides in East Hanover with his wife, Marina, daughter, Natalie, and son, Sutton.

Ed Shupe enters his fourth season on the Devils coaching staff after being an assistant coach at Drew University for the previous 12 years.

Shupe will again coach first base for FDU, where he has helped guide the Devils to the Freedom Conference Tournament in two of his three seasons.

During his tenure, he helped Drew to 180 wins and saw the Rangers set the single season record for victories in a season, twice.

They also earned trips to the post-season three times and made the conference playoffs in his first eight seasons.

Shupe has coached various levels of baseball for over 30 years and he is currently involved in the Madison Little League and Florham Park-Madison American Legion baseball programs.
