KINGSTON, Pa. – Following the nail-biting semifinal round victory on Friday against the King's College Monarchs, the Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham men's tennis team returned to the court and was defeated by the top-seeded Wilkes University Colonels 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The afternoon began for the Devils with sophomore Max Moscowitz and freshman Rich Bennett taking four games in first doubles, but ultimately falling 8-4. The Colonels went on to take second doubles by a score of 8-2 and then shutout the Devils in third doubles 8-0.
Max Appello and Michael Kranz sealed the victory for the Colonels in second and fifth singles. The remaining matches went unfinished as the Colonels had picked up their five wins to claim the MAC Freedom Tournament Championship win.
It was an outstanding season for the Devils, who reached the conference tournament championship game for the first time since 2008. The 12 wins on the year also marked the most for the program since 2006.
