Klika Named Sorrentino Award Winner

MADISON, NJ - At the Middle Atlantic Conference Annual Awards Luncheon on May 1, 2012, FDU-Florham Director of Athletics Bill Klika was named the inaugural winner of the Lou Sorrentino Award.

The Lou Sorrentino Award is presented to the Middle Atlantic Conference athletics administrator who has had a sustained and influential role in conference and national affairs and embodies the NCAA Division III philosophy.  In recognition of Lou's career, this award sets a high standard for participation and leadership in Division III sports.

Sorrentino served Lebanon Valley College as a student-athlete, coach, and athletic director for nearly 60 years from 1950 until his passing in November of 2010.  A member of the Lebanon Valley College, Central Pennsylvania, and Pennsylvania athletic halls of fame, Sorrentino began his involvement with Lebanon Valley athletics as a star three-sport athlete, then as athletic director and coach for four different sports.

Klika started the FDU football program in 1974 before becoming the second athletic director in school history in 1989.  While at the helm for the Devils, Klika has added seven different programs (women's soccer, women's lacrosse, men's swimming, women's swimming, men's cross country, women's cross country, and women's golf) to the athletic department.  He has also served on numerous committee's in his time at FDU, including the NCAA Management Council while residing as the Chair of the NCAA Honors Committee.
