POMONA, NJ - The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Richard Stockton, 4-1, in the 2010 season opener for both teams on Wednesday evening in non-conference action.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-1.

Stockton got on the board first with a goal 10:46 into the contest before FDU's potent offensive duo of senior forwards Brittany Kanickij (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and Lora Fink (Hamilton Square, NJ/Pennington Prep) hooked up to tie the score at 1-1 with 20:00 gone by in the first half.  Kanickij scored the goal while Fink tallied the assist.  The Ospreys made it 2-1 just 1:10 before halftime and notched two goals in the second half to put the game out of reach.  The Devils had chances to get back in the game, holding a 7-6 edge in shots in the second half, but weren't able to find the back of the net.

Junior goalkeepers Melanie Pierson (Brookside, NJ/Mendham) and Lauren Albrecht (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) each played a half, allowing two goals and making two saves.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at home in the FDU Classic against Stevens beginning at 1 pm.  New Jersey City and Albright will play in the second game beginning at 3 pm.
