ANNVILLE, PA - Senior designated hitter
Greg Geran (Brick, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) was named Freedom Conference Player of the Week on Monday afternoon after his monstrous offensive output last week.
Geran began the week on Wednesday when he went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in a 7-6 win at Rutgers-Camden. On Friday in the first game of a three-game weekend series against DeSales, Geran had one of the most prolific days in FDU history when he went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored and nine RBI. His two home runs were the story though, as they were both grand slams and he hit one apiece in the first and second innings to blow the game open as FDU took the first game by a score of 20-5. The Devils weren't as lucky in the final two games, but Geran continued his torrid week by going 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
On the season, Geran leads the team with a .430 batting average and is tied for second in doubles (10) and tied for fourth in RBI (33). Nationally, he is 25th in walks per game, 45th in on-base percentage and 115th in doubles per game.
