Fetske Puts Up Double-Double But Devils Fall To Valiants, 73-63

MADISON, NJ - Junior center Ricky Fetske (Galloway, NJ/Absegami) had 21 points and a game-high 11 rebounds but it wasn't enough as the College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Manhattanville, 73-63, in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday evening.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-13 (0-4 Freedom) while the Valiants improved to 8-7 (2-2 Freedom).
With the game tied at 6-6 in the early stages of the first half, Manhattanville went on a 7-0 run to take a 13-6 edge with 13:20 left. FDU pulled to within three, 20-17, with 6:50 to go but the Valiants closed the half on a 17-6 run to take a 37-23 lead into the locker room.
The Devils cut the deficit to 10 points on three different occasions early in the second half but Manhattanville surged back to take a 56-38 lead with 11:41 remaining in the game. The Valiant advantage was 63-47 with 8:43 to go when FDU made one last push, going on a 10-0 run over the next 4:30 to pull to 63-57 with 4:09 to play. Fetske and freshman guard Alex Rosario (Bound Brook, NJ/Bound Brook) each had four points in the spurt. That was as close as the Devils would get though, as Manhattanville executed down the stretch to pull out the victory.
Freshman guard Mike Williamson (Piscataway, NJ/Bishop Ahr) poured in 15 points off the bench while junior forward George Twill (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) had 12 points in just 12 minutes due to foul trouble.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at home against DeSales beginning at 3 pm.
